Susan Banks Exhibit
PROOF: THE EDGE OF EARTH AND LIGHT
This exhibition showcases a body of ceramic work by NWSA faculty Susan Banks made over the past 10 years. In her most recent work, Sanctuary, Banks has developed an interest in projected imagery to enhance the ideas within her sculpture installation. She utilizes embellished ceramic sculptural forms with rich tactile surfaces, color and a shift from the display pedestal to standing forms.

Of the title of her exhibition Banks explains,
"those times I have stood on the shoreline and looked far away to the place where sky meets ocean. At this moment I am aware of the meaning of vast space. I am filled with a knowing that anything is possible and I am interconnected to all living entities on earth, especially the ocean. The ocean has always been a part of my life as teacher and companion. Therefore, the aesthetic influences of the marine environment are strongly evident in the ideas I am interested in and ceramics forms I create."
