NWSA HIGH SCHOOL WELCOMES NEW PRINCIPAL
Lisa S. Noffo, a ten year veteran administrator for the Miami-Dade County Public School System has been recently appointed as the new principal of New World School of the Arts. Ms. Noffo, who led Miami Palmetto Middle School, received her Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education at the University of South Carolina and her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
"I am looking forward to a year filled with artistic training, academic growth and creative development," said Ms. Noffo who has spent the greater part of this summer preparing for her new role at NWSA.

YOUNGBLOOD: NEW WAVE 2010
This art exhibition by 25 NWSA high school and college alumni showcases a medley of professional, practicing and emerging artists. It is a diverse show which highlights a myriad of styles and a balanced blend of alumni of all ages and establishment levels. A portion of the sales will benefit the NWSA high school and college visual arts department, which helped shape and develop the artistic talents of this group.

FACULTY EXHIBITION AT NEW WORLD GALLERY
New World Gallery showcases the work of the visual arts faculty with an exhilarating and varied collection of works. The show, which highlights the talented individuals that are instrumental in the success of the school, includes photography, painting, digital imagery, design and sculpture. Exhibiting artists include: Luisa Basnuevo, Carol K. Brown, Felicia Carlisle, Greg Davis, Tony Fernandez, Christy Gast, Kathleen Hudspeth, Michael Loveland, Rosario Martinez-Cañas, Annette M. Piskel, Karen Rifas, Louise Romeo, and Fred Snitzer.

NWSA VISUAL ART ALUM DEBUTS MUSIC CD
Sussy Taveras, BFA 2009, will debut her single music CD Sexy I on August 24, signed by the record company D-town / Universal Records. Having graduated with a double major from the NWSA college visual art division, Sussy is a graphic designer specialized in electronic media, as well as a talented singer and musician. Taveras, who also goes by her stage name "Sujo", created MGE [Music Grand Effects] along with two fellow musicians and is responsible for developing the group's marketing campaign, and directing the photo shoot and music video. You can listen and download Sexy I on August 24 on numerous internet sites.

ERAS DEL TANGO
Three NWSA alumni will transport the audience on a journey through the eras of Argentine Tango, the most passionate of dance forms.Featuring three professional couples, each with their individual styles and full of seduction and romance, the concert demonstrates the explosiveness and versatility of Tango. The stage is shared by a live 5-piece orchestra which highlights the Bandoneón, the instrument that best illustrates this passionate dance. NWSA dance alumni presenting the show are Diego Blanco, Ana Padrón, and Jeremias Massera.
