REPRESENTING THE UNITED STATES, NWSA BRINGS HOME TWO GRAND PRIZES FROM THE NEW PRAGUE DANCE FESTIVAL
Fifteen college students from the New World School of the Arts [NWSA] Dance Division along with four faculty members including the dean of dance Daniel Lewis are currently attending the New Prague Dance Festival in the Czech Republic, where the troupe has won numerous prizes and accolades including the final two grand prizes.
"At the final performance of the New Prague Dance Festive 2010 we received a standing ovation for the third time in a row," announced Lewis from Prague. After the performance, awards were announced for best choreography, best dancers in many styles and two grand prizes including the GRAND PRIX AWARD.
The first of two grand prizes won by NWSA included a special award not juried by the international panel of judges, but awarded by the director of the festival for a company that moved him with their talent, professionalism, and ability to move audiences. The second and final 'juried' award was the GRISHKO INTERNATIONAL AWARD: the top prize given by the partner of the New Prague dance festival.
"The New World Dance Ensemble is very proud to be the winner of these two prestigious awards. We will be sending home the two Bohemian crystal awards, and the 1,000.00 Euros prize money!" concluded Lewis.
