HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING
Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, will be presented by New World School of the Arts' music theater program to start the Holiday season. This amusing musical tells the story of J. Pierpont Finch, a window washer at the World Wide Wicket Company, who is intended in moving up the corporate ladder sooner rather than later.
Directed by NWSA faculty Jim Randolph, the production will feature forty high school music theater students in the cast, accompanied by college and high school students from the music division playing in the orchestra. "This show is vintage musical theatre. It opened in 1961 and has been produced somewhere in the world ever since. It represents innovation in the American musical and reaffirms the value of a good old fashioned story," affirmed Randolph, "The piece still resonates because it depicts the brightness and drive of the American dream which still lives in our hearts, souls and minds even in these more troubling times."

HOLIDAY CONCERT RINGS IN THE SEASON
The spirit of the holidays begins with the NWSA High School Choir as they offer the enchanting Holiday Concert, a one hour musical concert, under the direction of Albert Clark, Director of Vocal Music. Timeless pieces such as "Esurientes" by John Rutter from his Magnificat, Jester Hairston's "Mary's Little Boy Child," and the always popular "Sleigh Ride" (to celebrate Leroy Anderson's 100th birthday!), will highlight the joy of this Holiday season. But, come ready to experience the glitz as this presentation will mark the seventh time the concert is recorded by WLRN for broadcast on PBS stations.

VARIED CHOREOGRAPHIC PERFORMANCE SURE TO DELIGHT AUDIENCE
Twelve new works choreographed and danced by thirty-five college students will be presented to the public in a unique Student Choreography Concert. "The show promises to be one of the best presented at NWSA," stated Daniel Lewis, Dean of Dance. Ranging from comedy to drama with a free flow of imagination that will captivate the audience, the thematic gamut of the pieces is equal to the number being presented. The audience will go on a journey through snowy landscapes, experience the slow motion moment of impact of a train wreck and find the unexpected delights that lay within the world of an umbrella. Through the mentoring process by the faculty these young dancers and choreographers have created works of structural integrity and physical excitement.

ONE-PERSON SHOWS, A MONUMENTAL DISPLAY OF TALENT
Thirteen graduating seniors from the college theater program will present their One-Person Shows as their BFA Senior Project. Writing, acting and producing their own 20-30 minute piece requires "verve and an abundance of creativity" stated David Kwiat, coordinator of the project at NWSA.
Among the eclectic performances are: Renata Eastlick's Yours Truly Billie Holiday, an intimate evening with the legendary "Lady Day". Join her in a walk through the highs and lows of her life as she shares her heart in song. Ryan Didato's Superuseless, the story of "The Tepid Avenger", a wannabesuperhero who just got rejected from the Justice League of America for the last time and Kindergarten Kiss-Off, by Ann Marie Olson - what starts out as a sunny day at Harry S. Truman Elementary School becomes darkened with gloomy clouds of reality.
Performance Schedule: December 11: Program A: 5:00 pm / Program B: 8:00 pm December 12: Program C: 2:00 pm / Program D: 5:00 pm / Program A: 8:00 pm December 13: Program B: 2:00 pm / Program C: 5:00 pm / Program D: 8:00 pm Tower Theater

NWSA STUDENTS
TREASURED CLUES AT HERALD HUNT

Continuing the tradition, NWSA students once again became some of the most treasured clues in this year's Herald Hunt. An annual South Florida favorite, Dave Barry's Hunt filled downtown Miami with more than 5,000 Hunters eager to solve the brain-bending puzzles, two of which featured NWSA college theater students. Puzzle #1: Stationed by the Ziff Opera Hall, Maria C. Ramirez and Jameson Hammond presented a poignant balcony scene from the eternal love story Romeo and Juliet... but with the modern-day catch-all phrase "call me". Where? For those who know of the rivalry, the answer was in the house.
Puzzle #2: When Hunters walked into the Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center, they were treated to a Murder Mystery that asked the question.....what happened to Jack? followed by darkness. When the lights came back on, the answer was in the color.
Actors included Vanessa Rubio, Carolina Ordonez, Rachel Clark, Joshua Jean-Baptiste, Riiah Mitchell, Daniel Stopnick, Jose Elosegui, Marckenhson Charles, and Jean Edson.
