FOLLOW OUR STUDENTS AS THEY TRAVEL TO THE ORIENT IN SEARCH OF NEW INSIGHT AND INSPIRATION
This morning, six NWSA college students from the Visual Arts division, along with three faculty members, began a 12-day trip to the distant nation of China. And you too are invited!! Just click on the COUNTDOWN TO CHINA BLOG and follow them on this amazing journey.
An unprecedented experience for these adventure-seeking students, they will have the opportunity to attend the Icograda World Design Congress 2009 in the capital of China, Beijing. This international bi-annual graphic design conference brings together artists from around the globe to discuss the role of graphic designers as it relates to our society and to the responsibility of communication design.
The NWSA group will continue their adventure as they travel to Xi'an, one of the oldest cities in Chinese history, where they will meet with other students to exchange ideas on visual trends, social issues and artistic movements. Their cultural curiosity will also be satisfied as they visit The Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City and the Terracotta Warriors exhibition, among other landmarks.
"Funding this trip has not been an easy task," said Maggy Cuesta, Dean of Visual Arts who is part of the group, "but, through two years of creative fundraising, the students and faculty were able to raise sufficient funds to make this trip a reality. We're thrilled and we plan to share our experience through our blog - we hope everyone will join us."
