NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF THE ARTS, PROUDLY REPRESENTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA

Florida MapDear friend,
New World School of the Arts, the only eight-year program in the nation dedicated to visual and performing arts education, was created by the Florida Legislature more than twenty years ago as a Center of Excellence. As such, it has enjoyed national and international recognition as one of the top arts conservatories in the nation. Attracting the most talented students from our state of Florida and the nation, NWSA has produced more than 3200 graduates from the high school and college programs, many of whom are now established artists in their fields, representing our state nationally and around the globe.

As the US gateway to Latin America and much of Europe, Florida has become a major player in the arts and culture scene, attracting thousands to our cities every year to be part of this exhilarating movement. NWSA is proud to partake in this evolutionary process and is committed to the development and advancement of emerging young artists in our communities, by providing all Floridians interested in pursuing a career in the arts the opportunity to do so, without having to leave the state. Your support, however, also plays a vital role in the success of our students and of our program. Whether it comes in the form of event patronage, financial commitment or professional collaboration, your participation represents an invaluable source of inspiration. Continue supporting NWSA and help us spread the good news about this extraordinary center for the arts, right here in our own state.

PIANIST JOSE FEGHALI JOINS NWSA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA IN PIANO CONCERTO

Two monumental masterpieces will be presented by the New World School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra - Brahms' Symphony Number 2 and Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto. Conducted by Alfred Gershfeld, sixty NWSA high school and college music students will join their musical force with piano soloist José Feghali, gold medal winner of the Seventh Van Cliburn Piano Competition, promising to deliver an exuberant evening.

A leading composer and pianist, Johannes Brahms composed Symphony Number 2, a cheerful yet contemplative melody in the summer of 1877 and is considered perhaps the most popular of the four works he composed in this form. The Piano Concerto Number 1 is considered one of the most popular of Tchaikovsky's works and is among the best known of all piano concertos.
