TITANIC, AN EPIC MUSICAL VOYAGE STAGED BY NWSA

An astonishing addition to NWSA's music theater collection, Titanic, the most tragic maiden voyage in history, will be staged by the theater students. Directed by NWSA theater faculty member James S. Randolph, Titanic, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone, will showcase a cast of 37 college and six high school students, accompanied by college and high school students from the music division playing in the orchestra.

The story of this unfortunate journey unfolds in two acts through timeless melodies that present the audience with the dreams and aspirations of its crew and passengers. With such numbers as "To Be a Captain" which explores the innermost feelings of Murdoch as he contemplates his role as commander of the Titanic, and "The Proposal" a riveting display of romantic lyrics filled with hopes for a new life, the audience will be captivated by the very story that claimed the lives of 1,500 people.

GET IN THE MIX
AS NWSA FASHION SHOW CELEBRATES 1940s AND 1950s

Swing, Paul Taylor, Jack Cole, Pajama Game and Big Band sum up America in the 1940's and 1950's. Now, NWSA Dance Division brings it all to the runway during its annual Fashion Show and Luncheon, a fundraising initiative. From Broadway fashion to military couture, the 98 high school dancers will present five dance numbers and model various collections from that era. Directed and choreographed by former NWSA dance faculty Cynthia DuFault, Get in the Mix, A Runway Celebration of the 1940's & 1950's highlights a time in fashion that reflected the general spirit and mood of the nation during that period.

Underwritten in part by NWSA Foundation Board members Myrna Palley and Beatrice Simon, the annual Fashion Show and Luncheon will help the dance division raise funds for costumes, point shoes, choreography, and guest teachers as well as for other needs that are above and beyond budgeted school funds.
