The Childhood Roots of Adult Happiness
Join EssentialMom.com, the Rippowam Cisqua School and the Northern Westchester Parent-Child Group for the Foundations in Education Series presenting Dr. Ned Hallowell's The Childhood Roots of Adult Happiness.
Best selling author Ned Hallowell offers advice on how to survive in an ultra-competitive, ultra fast, attention deficit society while remaining sane, how to raise happy children, the art of forgiveness and how to manage worry. A graduate of Harvard College and Tulane School of Medicine, Dr. Hallowell is a psychiatrist and the founder of The Hallowell Center for Cognitive and Emotional Health.
Without intending for it to happen or knowing how, when, or why it got started, many people now find that they live in a rush they never wanted. If you feel busier than you've ever been and wonder how you can keep up the pace much longer, you're hardly alone. Crazy? Maybe not. Dysfunctional? Yes, indeed. We all have more to do than ever before -- and less time to do it.
Find out what you can do to slow life down and make yourself AND your children happier. In this presentation, Dr. Hallowell outlines a five-step plan for promoting learning and lifelong joy that parents can use to give children the gift of happiness that will last a lifetime: Connect, Play, Practice, Mastery and Recognition.
As fundamental as these five concepts are, Dr Hallowell presents how they hold the key to raising children with healthy self-esteem, moral awareness and spiritual values. He will point out what really matters in childhood, and what doesn't, while offering practical pointers on how to make the most of the most precious years of life.
