An Amazing Cause For Your Consideration!
Feed Me Fresh -- An Edible Evening
Five years ago as a board member for the Mount Kisco Child Care Center we created a fundraiser which focused on the fantastic programs at the Center with a special highlight on their Feed Me Fresh curriculum, which teaches students the benefits of a healthy diet, the practices of farming and cooking, and the importance of 'healthy living' in general.
This year in celebrating their 5th annual Feed Me Fresh fundraiser, the Center has kindly suggested that I be an honoree along with honoring EssentialMom.com with a Community Service Award.
In my pre-mom life I was a social worker, and as such, felt strongly that one of our main focuses at EssentialMom.com would always be the promotion of the non-profits in our community that make this such an amazing place to live.
The non-profits in our world - particularly during challenging economic times, make our community stronger and enrich all of our lives by keeping the environment safe and beautiful, offering children of all economic backgrounds the chance to succeed, helping families through support systems and services, providing affordable housing and healthcare to those in need and offering us all classes, in art, music, literature and much more. They deserve our support and our thanks!
Obviously, this year I will be giving my support to the Mount Kisco Child Care Center and hope that you will consider becoming involved in this amazing cause as well.
Please see below for more details about this fun and fantastic evening -- the food is AMAZING, the crowd is fun, young, and involved, the location is exquisite, the music is great, and wait until you hear about the auction! Can't announce our hottest item yet, but if you join in I promise you'll be in good company... |

Fifth Annual Feed Me Fresh Fundraiser | |
|
Feed Me Fresh - An Edible Evening will be held at West Patent Farm on Guard Hill Road with over 400 people expected to attend. The proceeds from this evening benefit the MKCCC's scholarship program and will celebrate farmers, artisans and chefs and their commitment to local foods, healthy eating and educational opportunities for children.
This year, we invite you to consider sponsoring our amazing 'virtual' journal. Rather than printing a journal, the Center will be using an electronic format that will be displayed on large screens throughout the event. This is an environmentally friendly way to feature your business at a very "green" event, and reach out to attendees in a new way. The virtual journal will also be available on MKCCC's site for a full 12 months and through email distribution to attendees and friends of the center. Instead of having your ad printed in a book that attendees will likely lose or throw away, they will be able to access your information on-line where it can be found again and again!
SPECIAL OFFER from EssentialMom.com
In support of the Feed Me Fresh event, I would like to offer support back to you as a special thanks. To any businesses sponsoring the event in some way (virtual journal ads, silent auction items, sponsor tickets bought, etc), I will be offering free spots in my weekly newsletter for the months leading up to the event featuring our event sponsors.

About Mount Kisco Child Care Center
From the moment it opened its doors in 1971, Mount Kisco Child Care Center's Mission has been to serve the working families of Westchester County by providing exceptional and accessible care and education to a diverse group of children regardless of a family's ability to meet tuition.
Since its inception the Center has served over 5,000 children. Today they care for 161 children, ages 3 months to 12 years of age. MKCCC is dedicated to ensuring that the student body reflects the economic, social, ethnic, and cultural diversity of the community, based on the belief that this policy is beneficial to the children and has long-term benefits for the community as a whole.
In order to maintain this balance MKCCC provides more than 50% of their students with full or partial scholarships. More than 40% of the children are of minority heritage. One third of the children come from single-parent homes, and one third of the families earn less than $30,000 a year. With day care costing between $9,000 and $20,000 a year in Westchester, the disparity between cost of care and affordable tuition continues to widen. We believe that every child has the right to safe, inspiring and purposeful care and education with the intention of preserving the wonder of childhood, while preparing for a future in a complex world.
