Super Moms Roundtable

The stress of motherhood is more than even some of the most prepared, organized moms can handle but add a 50-hour work week, not to mention being present in your other important roles as wife, daughter, sister, best friend, and showing up for yourself becomes a distant concept. It is easy to get out of touch with our feelings, our bodies, our perception of ourselves and miss even obvious signs that our hearts may be at risk.

The Supermoms Roundtable is specially designed for working mothers to talk candidly about how we do it ALL-our challenges and struggles, triumphs and tips on work/life balance, climbing the ladder and living the dream.  The discussion will focus on managing career, family and life, leadership, setting goals and realizing your vision.  It also presents a superb networking opportunity to meet and build relationships with leaders in business and the community.  A host of Supermoms will present their thoughts plus the audience of working mothers will surely have their own pearls of wisdom to share.

Please join us for a powerful and emotional discussion, network with other leaders and champions of their destiny who have found a way to make it all work.

Reservations are required, $30 per person, $25 if you mention EssentialMom.com.  For more information, please contact Potoula Gjidija, director, Go Red For Women at 914-640-3262 or potoula.gjidija@heart.org

The American Heart Association uses all revenues from local and national Go Red For Women activities to support awareness, research, education and community programs to benefit women.  Go Red For Women aims to raise awareness that heart disease is the no. 1 killer of women and encourages women to choose to live their healthiest and most fulfilled life.

Last Lorax Reading -- June 8, 2009 at the Bedford Village Library!
trees
Join the Westchester Land Trust and EssentialMom.com for a reading of The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss, followed by a fun seed planting activity.

Learn about "The Lorax", a creature who teaches the importance of taking care of the environment and the dangers of chopping down the beautiful "Truffula Trees" near his home until sadly there are none left.  In the end, the greedy Once-ler who has chopped down the trees recounts the story to a little boy and reveals that he has one last Truffula seed left which he gives him to start a new forest.

June 8, 2009.  Bedford Village Library, 4pm.  Reserve your space ASAP.  RSVP to 914.234.3570.  Visit www.bedfordfreelibrary.org.  Event is FREE and open to the public.

Also happening at the Westchester Land Trust...

Connecting more people with the land is what land preservation is all about.  With this as its mission, Westchester Land Trust (WLT) has posted a 90 second video on YouTube that highlights the Westchester Wilderness Walk, one of WLT's most beautiful preserves which is open to the public and features many walking trails perfect for families.  The video was produced by production dynamo Pete Menzies, aka my husband and features some pretty cute kids too...yes, mine.

The video is part of a campaign by WLT asking each family that views the video to contribute ten dollars for land preservation and then pass the video link on to a friend. WLT's goal is to protect 10,000 acres of land in Westchester County by 2012.  In these tough economic times, a small investment by many people can make a big difference.  View the video now by clicking here

And of course, if you're looking for something fun and fabulous to do on June 20th, be sure to check out the Land Trust's "Party with a Purpose", their Lorax themed fundraiser this year.  It's obvious how my family feels about the Land Trust...check it out for yourself when you get a minute, you might find that you love it too.
