Which Puppy?
 
Sunday, May 3rd, 1 to 4pm at the Katonah Museum of Art 
 
Meet Jules Feiffer and his daughter Kate, who will present their new children's book Which Puppy?.  Inspired by President Obama's promise of a puppy to his daughters, Kate wrote this charming story of animals across the globe vying for their shot at the White House.  The book was illustrated by Jules, whose work is on exhibit in the Learning Center.  The exhibition Jules Feiffer: Picture Books runs concurrently with the main exhibition, Lichtenstein in Process, through June 28.

1-4pm: Hand-on activities
2pm: Which Puppy?  Kate will read the book while Jules creates a "live illustration."  A book signing will follow.

Join the FCC (Families with Children from China) and the Hammond Museum for an afternoon puppet performance by Chinese Theatre Works and music by Junling Wang. They will present the performance of "Wu Song Fights the Tiger".   It is based on a favorite episode from the great 15th C novel, "The Water Margins." Performance starts at 1:30pm.

Children will have a chance to make a stick puppet.  Light refreshments will be served.  Cost $15 per family for non-museum members; $10 per family for museum members; free with a new family membership.

2009 Summer on the Hudson Festival
 
Ninth Annual Arts and Culture Festival, presented by the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. 
Almost 100 Free events for the whole family!!!

Summer On the Hudson, one of New York City's largest free summer festivals, opens its ninth season Sunday, May 3, at Riverside Park South with the Irish Arts Center's 8th Annual all-day New York City Irish Dance Festival.  The six-month series, running through October 11, is an annual summer arts and cultural festival in Riverside Park South presented by The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.
 
Summer On the Hudson features an enormous variety of events at Riverside Park South from West 59th Street to West 72nd Street along the Hudson River: music and dance performances, movies, world music DJ dance parties, and programs for children and families. In addition, throughout the summer there will be ongoing sports, wellness and recreation activities for the whole family, from spring into fall, in yoga, kayaking and pilates. Food and drink is for sale at the park's Pier I Café. All events and programs are FREE to the public. Festival De Primavera 2009: Rolling into Spring Casino Night
 

neighbors linkJoin us for a festive Monte Carlo evening of cocktails, dinner, music, games and dancing with a live auction to benefit Neighbors Link.  Saturday, May 2, 2009 7pm.  Westchester Country Club, 99 Biltmore Ave, Rye. 

This is the ninth annual "Festival de Primavera" fundraising event to benefit Neighbors Link, Westchester County's bi-cultural, non-profit community center dedicated to helping Educate, Empower and Employ recent Latino immigrants.
 
"ROLLING INTO SPRING" promises to be an exciting and fun evening, featuring cocktails, dinner, dancing, a live auction and Monte Carlo style casino games. Tickets begin at $175, and include $100 worth of 'play' casino money. Proceeds from the event will fund various education, family support and employment programs to meet the needs of the families we serve.
