Feed Me Fresh!  Music, Food and Fun
To Benefit the Mount Kisco Child Care Center

flowersOn Saturday, September 27th, the Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC), is hosting its fourth annual Feed Me Fresh-- An Edible Evening to benefit their fantastic scholarship program, and to highlight their work through Feed Me Fresh, the MKCCC's garden to table, sustainable nutrition program which is designed to increase the level of appreciation for healthy foods and healthy choices for children at an early age.

The evening will take place on the stunning property of West Patent Farm on Guard Hill Road in Bedford Hills from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.  The event's fabulous food, amazing Bluegrass band, cocktails, and farm market offerings all highlight MKCCC's commitment to community-based programming by educating families, inspiring them to adopt healthy life styles, while also showcasing the work of local chefs, farmers and artisans.

Foods served throughout the evening will feature Westchester's finest chefs using ingredients from local and regional farms. Participants include: Crabtree's Kittle House, Ladle of Love, Myong's Private Label Gourmet, Plates, La Tulipe, the Feed Me Fresh kitchen, Table Local Market, and Fuel.  Raphael Palomino of Pacifico, Sonora and Palomino will also cater the event. Blue Harvest will provide the musical backdrop.

The MKDCC Board of Directors honors Twink and Jim Wood for their amazing contributions in the community and at the MKCCC in particular.  This wonderful couple has spent the last 20 years giving back to the children of their community.  Jennifer Madden and Linda Mahon, Event Chairs, present a wonderful offering of special live and silent auction items as well this year and Stephen Paletta will be the master of ceremonies for the evening.

Family Treasure Hunt in Historic Bedford Village

drummer
The Bedford Historical Society is sponsoring a family activity day on Saturday, September 6th from noon to 4pm.  Families are invited to participate in an architectural walking tour, disguised as a Treasure Hunt, of different historic buildings and landmarks in the village. Throughout the afternoon, approximately 30 costumed Revolutionary War re-enactors from the 5th New York Regiment, including mounted soldiers, as well as a fife and a drummer will be performing on the Village Green. The soldiers representing British and revolutionary forces will encamp on the green, stage demonstrations and speak about the life of an 18th century soldier.  Children will be able to join in the demonstrations using toy wooden muskets.  Re-enactors will also engage children in traditional colonial children's games.

portraitFamilies may also stop by the Bedford Store - new home of the Bedford Historical Society, visit with the Leatherman, or go for a pony ride on the Green.  The Sutton Clock Tower at the corner of Succabone and Guard Hill Roads will also be open for guided tours.  These day events are free and open to the public.

Sihouette artist Deborah O'Connor will be at the 1829 Stone Jug School House from noon to 4pm to hand cut children's portraits in minutes.  The pricing is $30 for the first cut and $15 for each additional copy. They can also be matted and framed for an additional cost.  These make GREAT holiday gifts for grandparents!  Appointments are limited, if you would like to schedule a specific time between 12 and 4pm, contact Katie at durfeehome@optonline.net

kidsFamily Pig Roast and barbeque featuring the live music of Citygrass will be held at Historical Hall and on the Green starting at 4pm.
