Gather the kids, the hats, and the sunscreen and head off for a day of "harvesting".  Put your little energizer bunnies to work and see what happens...we're guessing you'll end up with a bunch of delicious dessert treats and an afternoon nap if you play your cards right.

The beautiful Amawalk Farm in Katonah is OPEN for business.  I took the boys this weekend, and the bushes are full to bursting with gorgeous, juicy, fresh berries, ripe for the picking as they say.

Amawalk Farm is a delightful slice of property tucked in behind Lasdon Arboretum in Katonah.  The farmers, Marian and Larry Cross have spent the last few years rehabing an 1825 farm to create this gorgeous "U-Pik" for the benefit of families throughout Westchester County.  You show up, bring the kids, buy a container, and off you go.  As my 5-year old said "it's like shopping, but better!"  Scary sentiment for someone whose parents try to garden with their kids and teach them about the land and where food comes from...but cute none-the-less...guess we'll keep working at that.

Amawalk Farm is located at 42 Wood Street in Katonah, NY.  Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 6pm, Saturdays 10am to 6pm, and Sundays 2 to 6pm.  Call (914) 245-2319 for daily picking conditions, special events and other certified organic vegetables available.  For more information, visit www.amawalkfarm.org.  For directions, click here.
