SPCA Adoptathon
My boys (husband included) have been merciless lately about getting a dog. They are DYING for one, begging for one, pleading and crying for one. We even went the other day to look at some puppies, and I nearly caved. Luckily for me, they were still too young to bring home.
Personally, I am already overwhelmed by the array of animals they have each dragged into the house. We have 2 cats (and two strays that our cats keep inviting over for play dates), my husband keeps a flock of chickens (citing the need for fresh eggs for the family and chores for the boys to do), my 5 year old has been keeping a caterpillar named 'squirk', and today, my 2nd grader brought home a classroom crayfish to live here. Lucky us, we won the classroom "drawing" to keep 'pinchy', and yes, he does smell.
The thing about it is, pinchy and squirk are not so very snuggly, what with the claws and worminess, and the chickens are...chickens. Not exactly the loyal and snuggly pets a dog would be I guess, so I know that I will give in shortly. As my mother recently said, "how can you let those two boys grow up without a dog"? I gave YOU one when you were nine....Bad mommy.
So, if you are in a caving mood your own self, head over to the SPCA's Adoptathon this weekend:
