Westchester's Hottest Camp Cools Down This Summer--And It's Not Too Late to Join the Fun!

trapeze
Now in its 18th year, Circus Arts Camp and its staff move this summer from SUNY-Purchase to the air-conditioned, state-of-the-art gyms of the Hartsdale Solomon Schechter School, adding a new half-day preschool camp for ages 5 and 6 to the regular full-day sessions for ages 7 and up.   CAC draws participants from upper and lower Westchester, as well as Connecticut, Rockland, and even Manhattan.  Some spaces are available in each of the four 2-week sessions that run from June 30 through August 22, so there's still time to enroll your child in this unique camp experience.

Directors Chris Glover, Philippe Vercruyssen, and George Orosz are accomplished circus performers themselves.  Each summer they bring together their network of experienced professional educators to offer quality circus arts instruction in a safe and supportive environment.  Teachers and coaches are trained in appropriate skill-level development and spotting techniques, as well as being certified in professional safety by industry-recognized organizations.  Only regulation matting and spotting belts are used, and a professionally certified rigger installs and maintains all equipment. Kids have great fun learning juggling, clowning, trapeze, aerial arts, wire-walking, stilt-walking, trampoline, unicycling, rolla bolla, balancing skills and more, and each session ends with an exciting student performance starring the campers.

unicycleBut Circus Arts Camp is not only about circus skills--it offers an arena for learning life skills. Your child will experience hands-on the principle that creating a circus act--a team--requires discipline, focus, and determination. Students are inspired to encourage one another to succeed, to develop awareness for the safety of each team member, and to compete only with themselves.  Cooperation, friendships, and fun erupt as campers become circus folks during summer vacation.  For more information and registration forms go to www.circusartscampny.com or call 914 923-4650.  But hurry!  Registration is limited!
