By popular demand, the #1 children's music and theater program from New York City has now come to Westchester! Broadway Babies & Broadway Superstars offers classes and programs in music, theater and dance for children 4 months to 10 years at It's My Party, 114 W. Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck.
Owner Audrey Kaplan developed the program in NYC eight years ago after the birth of her son. Having taught and trained teachers in the New York City public school system, Audrey wanted to bring her love of Broadway music and her experience in education to children and their families.
The program essentially has three divisions. The first is Broadway Babies, which begins with Mommy and Me music classes for children 4 months-3 years. In this interactive experience, children are introduced to a different Broadway show each week. As the four teacher/performers begin to share what the story is about, children and moms (or dads) are invited to take part. Lyrics are posted so everyone can sing along as props, costumes and musical instruments are used to develop the child's imagination, musical, and rhythmic skills. The next step is for the children to start performing themselves in Broadway Little Stars (3& 4 years) and Broadway Stars (4&5 years). In these separation classes, children are again introduced to the musical of the week through improvisation, acting games, singing and choreography.
The next division is our Broadway Superstars program for ages Kindergarten-4th Grade. Each week, your child will get to take part in a series of acting games that helps them develop their imagination, creativity, articulation, and acting skills. The class will also work as a cast throughout the semester on staged production numbers. At the end of the semester we give them the chance to perform on a stage in front of a large audience.
