What does John Jones have to do with my business?
President Obama, spoke Monday night and the times, they are a scary! Right? I don't know about you, but my first thoughts were how can anyone think about calling me to decorate a room when they don't know if they will have a job. Or how can they think about staging their home when their home has already lost so much value in the market place. They don't know if they can continue to pay the mortgage. Short sales are becoming common reality. This is certainly all true. What to do, what to do? Should you just quit and take your sign down and wait? We all are experiencing emotional strain and tension with the economy and how it will impact our business. Let me share a story with you. A backwoods farmer, sitting on the porch, was approached by a stranger who stopped for a drink of water. "How's your wheat coming along?" asked the stranger. "Didn't plant none." "Really? I thought this was a good wheat country." "Afraid it wouldn't rain." "Oh. Well, how's your corn crop?" "Ain't got none," said the farmer. "Didn't plant any corn, either?" "Nope, 'fraid of corn blight." "For heaven's sake," said the stranger. "What did you plant?" "Nothin'," said the farmer, "I just played it safe."
Are you sitting there playing it safe? Are you not planting your wheat because it might not rain? The good news to this very dark cloud hovering over our nation is our homes bring us comfort, peace, and solace. Home is one of the most precious commodities we have. In other words, when things get bad, home is where we want to be. How does this impact you? The homeowner needs us now more than ever. Those that were planning to put on that addition, may have to wait. Those that were going to sell, may not be able to right now. But in spite of being unable to do those things, they still love their homes and want to have beautiful spaces.
Consider your own "Economic Stimulus Package" to continue to grow your business. What I am saying is-- CHANGE THE WAY YOU MARKET your services. Understand that what is happening in the world is impacting all of us, and your business needs to keep that in mind when you are selling your services. You need to market your services, not as a luxury, but as a necessity. So rethink your approach and... Before you can sell John Jones What John Jones buys, You must see the world Through John Jones eyes.
