"I Double Dog Dare YOU"
We have had over 150 of you take advantage of the ONE A DAY DARE MARKETING, and have had great feedback. Would anyone like to tell us what dare you have enjoyed the most so far? Okay, I'll go first. I liked Day Three-DARE 3 "Reach Out."
As you know I just moved to Nashville, TN just before Thanksgiving and have not stopped since. I am rebuilding my business for the 2nd time in a strange city, talk about lonely. So DARE 3 hit me where my business is now. For those of you who haven't read it yet, here it is.
One a Day Dare by JoAnne Lenart-Weary
DAY 3 / DARE 3 THE MOTIVATION:Success (or the pursuit of it) can be Lonely. I sometimes listen to my daughter, Kelly, talk about the things that happened at work that day. She is a teacher, which means she is surrounded by people all day. I envy the support she has around her, the jokes, the laughter, and the friendships. Many of my days, begin and end, with no one but me in my office. The only one I can gossip about is me and quite frankly, that is a pretty boring topic. So I reach out for other entrepreneurs and business people who encourage, inspire, and motivate me. I look for people who tell me I am smart, (well, sometimes I am) and I look for people who bring me back down to earth and tell me when an idea is...well, not so smart. (Thank you, Carol) If you don't have a support system, whining is not allowed. You need to build your own. Loneliness has killed more businesses than any other element of building a business. The business of build-a-bear has made millions, how about build-a-buddy to help you create your own personal fortune.
TODAY'S DARE:Reach Out!
Reach out to other entrepreneurs to start your own support team. This isn't a networking group from which you hope to gain clients but a safe place to whine, (just a little) share ideas, brainstorm, and perhaps even plan events as a team. Think of the power of the combined data base of a faux painter, interior decorator, Realtor, clothing boutique owner, and make-up artist, combined for a DIY event together. Choose a common theme that will complement the entire team, each is responsible for inviting so many people and sharing the overhead expenses. Come on, before the day ends, invite 4 people to lunch and get started. Well, I am taking JoAnne's dare literally. I researched all the decorating organizations I could find on-lineand narrowed it down to the Nashville market. I found names and phone numbers of other entrepreneurs like myself and have invited them to join me for lunch to brainstorm and share. We are discussing co-op advertising and marketing.
Not only will I make some new friends with the same mindset I do. We can hold each other up in the hard times and share in each others victories. Actually, I get to double dip! they will be new friends and business associates. It is the only way to go. So I double dog dare you to double dip. Try it! I am loving the ONE a DAY DARES. Now it is your turn. Let us hear from you. Carol

THE ONE DAY TRIPLE PLAY
by ODD Squad Team Member Sandra Racz of Signature Redesign
Get ready to see a lot of "B" words in 2009. Which "B" words are leading the "A" list?
1. Balance - We constantly strive for it in our lives and our businesses. This word has been in use for years. It has probably even made your resolution list several times. Balance seems to be harder and harder to reach...thus making is one of our favorite words. Taking time for ourselves will not hinder our business. In fact, it clears your mind and focus making you more productive. Your friends and family should understand when you need balance. Oprah's goal for 2009 is...Balance. We all know what that means, the word is buzzing hot. 2. Budget- We have all felt the impact of the economy. Whether you are starting you business or established, this has been the time to study the books. Expenses are being reallocated, cut and eliminated. This is not a sign of failure, it's a sign you are managing your investment...YOU. Good job if you are Balancing your Budget. 3. Beautiful- Think about it, we have , "The Top Ten Beautiful People, "House Beautiful", "Beautiful inside and out.", you get the point. Our industry presents awards for beautiful rooms. Redesign is: a beautiful space on a Budget. Room placement is about Balance. We know when our work is beautiful, we know when we look good, and we like it.
So embrace the "B"s. Balance, Budget and Beautiful. May your life and budget be balanced. May you create beautiful room and most of all may you feel beautiful.
See you Soon,
Sandra
