TOP FIVE CORNER
"Things We are Thankful For!"

1.  Ugly rooms and people who don't know how to fix them. I am so thankful they exist, otherwise I wouldn't be able to "play" and feed my addiction on other people's houses. And thank goodness, they have skills I don't have.

2. Wonderful People! At least once a week, we receive an email from an appreciative student, client or ODDmopolitan reader.  Carol and I try so hard to give our all that it is nice to know we touch lives.

3.  Nasty people, yep, there are a few!  Every once in a while you encouter someone who is deliberately rude or unkind, but I am thankful for them as they help me to appreciate the wonderful people.

 4. The people who help me to be a better person.  My family, my dear friends, and my business friends,  who support me and most of all, allow me to be me.  (that can be a bit frightening)

5. Laughter! Good days and bad days are made better by the ability to laugh at myself and the things around me.

"From Dull to Divine in a Day"

Charlotte's esteemed SouthPark Magazine recently did a great article entitled, yep, you guessed it, "From Dull to Divine in a Day"  (begins on page 56) southpark magazinefeaturing the art of One Day Decorating and interior redesign.  The magazine wanted to showcase how to have a beautiful home in today's "tighten up your belt" economy.  The talented team of reporter,Judy Morganthall and photographer, Gary O'Brien, showcased the hard work and efforts of JoAnne Lenart-Weary, Bobi McGinnis, along with Seana Corbeil, and Kim Krecicki, of Suddenly Stunning Interiors (website coming soon) in Charlotte. The goal of the design team was to transform a space in a day on a relatively small budget.  Mission Accomplished, here is what the homeowner had to say!

"You ladies are sooo talented!! We are VERY happy with our new room! Yes, I said WE. I am just amazed how you transformed my living/dining room into a picturesque beauty. My husband, Philip is a "tough nut to crack", and rarely gives credit with a response "I" would like to hear. His exact words were, "it's beautiful!" He walked into the room several times that night, as I did,  and just scanned the room with awe. Thank you for giving us this opportunity. It was worth every penny!!  Love, Karen & Philip Gadsden"

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Black Tie Affair Tree
Yesterday I had fun helping to set up for the annual "Festival of Trees" sponsored by St. Vincent's Health Center.  The event is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday and has been an Erie, PA, holiday staple for 24 years.  Our tree theme is  "Black Tie Affair" and is a glamorous play on black, white, and silver. The design team was myself,(JoAnne)  my amazingly talented sister-in-law and best friend, Carol Weary, and the equally talented Bev Verbeke.  Carol and Bev came up with the concept and started the ball rolling with a shopping trip to Pittsburgh.  I, of course, had to throw in my two cents, and the result is a beautiful tree. We are a great team.  Apologies to the other participants, but we think ours is the best. Time will tell as attendees are given the opportunity to vote in a number of categories. The tree was sponsored by Gohr's Printing of Erie, PA.

This charity event showcases a variety of designers, florists, and non-profit organizations.  Next week, I will share some of the other creative ideas to get you inspired for decorating your own tree. If you are in the viewing area of ABC affiliate, WJET-TV, watch me on Good Morning Erie, Thanksgiving morning for a look at the beautiful trees.  Better yet, come see them in person!

Happy Thanksgiving,

JoAnne Lenart-Weary
