Broncos End Preseason 13-4; Go 3-1 in Gifford Tourney
The Santa Clara baseball team won three of four games in the Jack Gifford Memorial Baseball Tournament last weekend to finish their preseason with a 13-4 record. The Broncos beat Utah 4-1, Lehigh 5-3, Columbia 3-0, and lost to San Jose State 5-6.

Powell Fansler Named WCC Pitcher of the Month
With Santa Clara baseball going 7-2 in new head coach Dan O'Brien's first month on the Mission Campus, LHP Powell Fansler was named the West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Month for February on Friday. He picked up four of the seven Bronco wins while making two starts and appearing twice in relief.
 "Being honored as the WCC Pitcher of the Month is indescribable but the award should be given not just to myself but to my team as well," said Fansler. "When I'm on the mound I really focus on executing the pitches that my coach calls. In addition, I have developed a routine that I stick to everyday and when something doesn't feel right I can look to my routine to find out what the problem might be.

"If You're Not A Bronco Fan, Buck Off" BY ERIC SORENSON, EASTON BASEBALL BLOG
Yes, I once owned a T-shirt that read that on the back, with the words "Santa Clara University" etched on the front. It was a holdover from the school's now-defunct football program, of which one of my good friends was a coach on the staff at the time.  Well now, that T-shirt (which was not-so-shockingly reviled by the Jesuit-based school administrators) may be more apropos than ever. Only this time, it may be time to rally around the Bronco baseball team. I found out why tonight.

Conference Play Begins For Broncos in Two Weeks
The Bronco baseball team will take the next two weeks off from competition to prepare for conference play and allow the players time to study for final exams which begin next Monday and run through March 23.
The Broncos open up conference play with a three game series at University of San Diego on Saturday, March 24 with a 1:00pm game at Cunningham Stadium. After playing USD, the Broncos host Brown for a midweek non-conference doubleheader before hosting WCC foe University of Portland from March 30 - April 1.
