Hello from Christ Church Westshore -

Don't be surprised on Sunday morning when the Bay High School Auditorium is set-up differently than usual.  The Spring play, Beauty and the Beast, is scheduled for March 22- March 25, and the Auditorium is set-up with the orchestra pit for dress rehearsals and the performances.

We will distribute Communion at stations with wafers and wine on both sides of the orchestra pit area.  You will go to the side aisle closest to your seat, rather than doing the big clockwise circle across in front of the stage.  Gene will explain it on Sunday.

So remember that Beatitude that was discovered as we walked down Wolf Road in November:  Blessed are the flexible, for they will never get bent out of shape!

Blessings!
Gene & Kim Sherman welcome you.

  "Finding the Apprentice in You"

What do you think about when I say the word "Disciple"?  More than likely, like many in our culture, you think of some kind of 21st century Super Christian who has 1/3 of the Bible memorized, leads Mission Trips, Tithes, and has gone through "The Purpose Driven Life" several times!  They've prayed a prayer, completed a Discipleship Course, and have a faith that is focused on "Sin management".

When you look in the Bible however, rather than a workbook, you see the Disciples constantly having their faith tested and their motives questioned. Jesus seemed to always be taking them to places that they never would have gone themselves, and to a people that they never would have considered ministering among. I'm sure if you asked them they would respond, "We wouldn't have wanted it any other way - afterwards!"

See, being a disciple is following where Jesus leads, and doing what He did. It is not a passive act of simply being taught about Jesus - as important as that is. The reality is that being a disciple is both the head and heart knowledge of our Lord, and then, putting it into practice! In modern terms, we are more like spiritual apprentices. Like the Trades, we are acquiring a set of skills that will assist us in being a fine craftsman (a mature disciple).

This week in Acts, Paul will demonstrate for us (Acts 17) how we can effectively articulate the reality of Jesus to the Sojourners in our lives, and thus being equipped to represent Him here on the Westshore.  I strongly encourage you to not miss it as Paul explains "2 ways to Live our lives", and then, like all apprentices - we'll be disbursed to the Community as God gives us opportunity - to share the good news of Jesus; and thus become Skilled Craftsmen!

Faithfully yours,

Gene

The Bay Directory

A key part of the Bay Directory fundraising is the advertising, not just by Bay Village businesses, but also those in surrounding communities.  We need volunteers  who are enthusiastic and energetic and willing to be part of this vital step of soliciting advertisers for the Directory.  Although earlier editions have raised close to $60,000, the last two editions have seen a significant drop in advertising.  Do you have a couple of favorite restaurants or other local businesses that are good candidates for placing an ad?  They don't have to be in Bay Village!  We're looking to expand our advertiser base to include surrounding communities.  If many people contact one or two businesses, then no one has to spend many, many hours trying to cover a large number of establishments.

Please talk with Mike Johnston or Linda Jackson.  They can give you the information about how many people the Directory reaches and some of the new features it will have this year.  And, we all know how popular it is with Bay Village residents and others in neighboring towns who are familiar with it.

This is a crucial year for the Directory and all assistance will be gratefully welcomed!

Have You Signed Your Membership Covenant
and the
Christ Church Westshore Charter?

We will have Membership Covenant sheets and the Christ Church Westshore Charter at the High School this Sunday
and next Sunday, and available in the church office until
March 18th.

If you haven't signed the Charter by March 18th, you may not be considered a Charter Member of Christ Church Westshore, unless there are physical limitations that have prevented you from being present to sign or you have talked with Gene.

If there are physical reasons, or other circumstances, that have prevented you from signing the documents, please call the church office (440-899-7151) so we can make alternate arrangements to get your signature.

"How Can We Prove God Exists?"

Dr. Tiel will speak on the Cosmological Proof and logical argument for the existence of God and the reasonability of the Bible's claims.  Dr. Tiel will be a guest of Fr. Sean and his "Confessing the Faith" class, but all are invited to attend this fascinating discussion.  Those who took Gene's "Christian Basics - Tactics" class, will find Dr. Tiel's presentation to be an excellent capstone to that class.
