TableTalk
The lights are up, the trees are being decorated, and Santa's bells can be heard in the background of every store that we enter this time of year. The world is busy getting ready for Christmas as simply a day of gift exchanges, and yet Advent calls us to get ready for two totally different reasons. First, we prepare our hearts and homes as we reflect on the beauty of Jesus first coming among us as a babe in a manger and the glorious redemption that he secured for us upon the cross. Second, we prepare here and now for the possibility of his return - today, tomorrow, or perhaps years from now. His second return is as sure as his first and Advent gives us this two directional focus year in and year out! Such preparation is vital for us as Christians so as not to get caught up on the mouse wheel of an American Christmas.
At Christ Church, we've entered Advent with a lot of changes over the past month: new office space, new corporate worship space, and new people coming each and every week. This is the most exciting period since my arrival in 2007, and I can see the Lord working in so many among us! Even with all of the change, one thing that hasn't changed - our focus remains to Go, Make Disciples, Follow Christ. I encourage all of you to bear that in mind as we enter this new era, and pick up an invitation postcard this Sunday to hand to that neighbor, coworker, friend, or family member that does not know Christ. May our preparation bear great fruit in God's kingdom this Advent / Christmas season!

 Christmas Poinsettias
Poinsettias will decorate our altar on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for the services at both the High School and the Great Hall at Bay Pres. Christmas flower offerings may be given in memory of a loved one or as a thank offering. The deadline for having the commemoration included in the Christmas bulletins is Sunday, December 11th and the suggested donation is $10. The forms will be available on Sunday on the Information Table at the High School or you may call the church office during the week at 440-899-7151. | |

WORSHIP SERVICE LOCATION ANNOUNCEMENT

(Yes, we are having church services those days!)
Please mark your calendars. The services on Sunday, December 25, 2011 and Sunday, January 1, 2012 will be in The Great Hall at Bay Presbyterian instead of at Bay High School as previously announced. The change will make it easier for our Altar Guild and the set-up teams, and will save us the cost of paying holiday rates to open the High School.
We will return to the High School on January 8, 2012. |

Monday Evening Vespers Service
The Monday Evening Vespers Service will no longer be held.
Attendance at the service does not support continuing to offer the Vespers Service. The time and effort required by the clergy and music team to prepare and conduct the service each week will be used to further other ministry efforts. We appreciate the dedication of Sean, Kevin and the Bosley's and know we will continue to see the parishioners who joined them on Monday evenings in attendance on Sundays and at other events and Community Life Groups. |
