  Natural History
Whitetail in Velvet
  • Our winter resident pair of Bald Eagles can be seen in higher trees around our lakes.
  • Our Whitetail Deer and elk are shedding their antlers.
  • Shed hunting is a popular past time.
  • During cold snaps the lakes completely freeze over.
  • On warmer days thousands of Canada Geese and Ducks congregate in the melted areas.  Their honks and quacks fill the air and are almost deafening at times.
  • Bluebirds plumage appear even more colorful than usual in stark contrast to the tans and browns of winter.
  • With the recent snows and full moon our over 4,000 acres were transformed into a glowing landscape during the night.
  • Winter hunger has made the Coyotes braver than  usual and they can be seen during daylight hours hugging the edges of the timber and prancing across the prairie in search of a their next prey.
