After graduating High School, Piper started her college career at a private college in Riverside. After a year, because of the cost, Piper had some decisions to make. It was at a time that she and her family could not make that type of financial commitment.
Piper moved back to Hanford. She enrolled at COS in Spring 2010, and attended both COS Hanford and COS Visalia, never losing sight of her goal to become a nurse. With a 3.9, Piper is well on her way. In a recent interview, Piper stated, "A lot of things with COS and the private college are similar which includes good education and smaller class sizes. Attending COS, however, is saving me $30,000 a year."
COS Hanford's Dr. Heather Moore, Piper's physiology professor says, "Piper is an amazing student! She has one of the highest grades in the class and has one of the most effective study groups in our class."
Mutual respect is certainly apparent. Piper stated, "Dr. Moore is personable, easy to talk to, and always responds to emails if I have a question. I appreciate that she really wants students to learn." Piper also likes taking classes at COS Hanford. She says that the Hanford campus provides an opportunity for professors to get to know the students better and she enjoys the smaller campus "feel."
Piper has a few more classes to take, but she hopes to begin a nursing program in Fall 2012. She doesn't know if she will attend the program at West Hills College or COS. When I asked her which one she believes she will attend, she laughed and said, "The one that accepts me!"
Piper, you are an inspiration to so many around you! Keep up the good work, and we know that you will be successful!
