No Lack of Will Here!

Kristin M. Hollabaugh, Ph.D.

Provost, COS Hanford Educational Center

Police Cadets

Vincent Lombardi once said, "The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will."

I believe this is a perfect quote as I began thinking about the upcoming week--and the 123rd graduating class of the Tulare/Kings Basic Police

Academy.  This Thursday, 25 cadets (22 males and 3 females) will have friends and family in the audience as they publicly announce to the world that they are "ready to serve" their communities. The cadets, who began their training on August 2, 2010 at the new Public Safety Regional Training Center at COS Hanford are the first group to complete their training at the facility.

This group doesn't lack will!  For the last module of the program (there are three!) the average grade point average is 90%--with 16 cadets having 90%-94%, and two having a 95% average. In addition, for scenario testing, the class average was 98%. Unbelievable!

Like the other portions of the COS Hanford Center which were funded by Measure C, this state-of-the-art facility Public Safety Training Center will train peace officers and firefighters for many generations to come.

Congratulations to the 123rd....and also to your instructors, family and friends!

Support COS Hanford "In the Race!"

Have you heard the news?  COS Hanford is "joining

the Race"  -- the Hanford Carousel Race, that is!

COS Hanford has "adopted" a horse on the 1939 Allan Herschell Carousel located in Hanford's Courthouse Park.  The carousel, which was once located at Mooney Grove in Visalia, has over 12,000 riders a year, and those horses are tired!  Wouldn't you be if you had that many people riding YOU every year?

Please join COS Hanford in showing some "Giant" spirit by giving to this great cause.  Donations can be sent to:

COS Hanford Foundation - Carousel Project.

(925 13th Avenue, Hanford, CA  93230)

All gifts are tax deductible!
