National leader concludes accomplished term

Dear Colleagues,

The opportunity to be the Chair of the AACC President's Sustainability Task Force (STF) has been a great learning experience for me. Since we began, in October 2010, this group of dynamic college presidents has guided the SEED Initiative, sharing insights and best practices, and providing structure to help us collectively advance sustainability and clean economy efforts across the country.

Now we have grown to 463 member colleges. That is due in large part to many of you who have personally recruited your colleagues to join the SEED Center. I am continually amazed at the new resources that are added to theSEEDcenter.org, such as the toolkit to address policy challenges around sustainability, webinars, and workshops presented that offer concrete ways to create a clean economy workforce.

This month I conclude my term as STF Chair and am pleased to transition the leadership to Bryan Albrecht, President of Wisconsin's Gateway Technical College.  Bryan has led his college to great success in sustainability technology training and is a national voice on the importance of skills development in the clean technology sector. He is well poised to steward the STF and SEED to future successes.

I look forward to remaining involved with AACC and SEED and continually bringing the benefits back to my own campus and to Illinois. Thank you for your service and for believing, as I do, that community colleges can drive the new green economy and bring new sustainability, technology, and benefits to our communities.

Sincerely,
