Greetings!

Warm wishes for the New Year from the Concord Bookshop!

We want each of you to know that we value your friendship and your patronage.  Whether you're a local resident who stops in frequently, an out-of-town visitor we see a few times a year, or a friend we know only via the internet and phone, we appreciate your business.

Please note our special hours this holiday weekend; we'll be open 9:30 - 4:00 on December 31, and closed on New Year's Day.  We resume regular hours on January 2.

We're really excited about the programs we have coming in 2011.  Whether you call it making resolutions, setting goals, or simply "turning over new leaves," we've got something for you.

In January we'll visit with an author who addresses the "feel good / look good" equation, encourage you to put pen to paper and share your story, and act on those thoughts of "someday I'd like to join a book group."  Someday is now!

We look forward to chatting with you in the Bookshop; comments are also welcome via email to info.concordBookshop@gmail.com.

All the best to you in 2011!
Save the Date: Jean Fain and "the Self-Compassion Diet"
The Self-Compassion Diet by Jean Fain
Jean Fain

Sunday, January 9 at 3pm

Just in time for those of us making New Year's resolutions to create better eating habits, local resident and Harvard Medical School-affiliated psychotherapist Jean Fain joins us at the Bookshop to share a new model for lasting weight loss.

Fain's Self-Compassion Diet turns conventional wisdom on its head - rather than believing that losing weight will lead to greater happiness, Fain's method begins by finding true self-acceptance, which paradoxically produces remarkable physical change.

Join us as Jean Fain discusses this scientifically-proven method.  She will take questions from the audience and sign copies of the book.

For more information, visit our website, or Jean Fain's Facebook event page.

Save the date! Daniel Palmer and Delirious

"an addictive literary puzzle" daniel palmer

Please join us on Sunday, January 30 at 3pm as we welcome Daniel Palmer, reading from and discussing his literary thriller, Delirious.

"One day, Charlie Giles is an up-and-coming electronics superstar. The next, he's a prime homicide suspect as his former employers are picked off one by one. Charlie watches his life unravel as his company and inventions are wrenched from his control, and his family is decimated. With nowhere else to turn, he enlists his schizophrenic brother to uncover the dark family secrets that lie at the heart of the unfolding terror."

Delirious is a mind-bending story where the line between what is real and what is imagined twists and turns...an addictive literary puzzle that every reader will want to solve.
