RCMSi Technology - Calibration Capability via the internet
All PFXi instruments include the Lovibond®  RCMSi technology (Remote Calibration & Maintenance Service via internet). This unique feature allows a calibrated measurement to be taken using a series of ISO 17025 certified liquid standards.
The spectral response is transmitted to The Tintometer Ltd's secure calibration server in the United Kingdom. On completion of the procedure, a traceable calibration certificate is e-mailed to the user. The RCMSi system not only gives the user added confidence that the instrument is working within tight ISO standards but also reduces the need for expensive on-site servicing and preventative maintenance of the unit.

Selecting the Right Instrument

Reflection or Transmission?

Q: Is the material a transparent (i.e. not turbid or opaque) liquid between room temp and 95°C?

Q: If particulates are present, can liquid be filtered to produce a transparent liquid?
Q: Is a colour scale other than the following required; CIE XYZ, CIE Yxy, CIE L*a*b*, Hunter LAB, CIE L*c*h, CMC and CIE 94, whiteness, yellowness or metamerism Index?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, then a Transmission instrument is required.
If you answered "no" to all of the above questions, then a Reflective instrument is required.

Transmission Instruments - Automatic or Manual?

Q: Are other manufacturing sites using an automatic instrument?
Q: Are technicians inexperienced at visual colour matching?
Q: Is fast colour measurement critical?
Q: Does the material require heating in order to become liquid and hence transparent?
Q: Are other colour scales required now or in the future?
Q: Is compliance with ISO17025 required hence remote calibration and servicing (via RCMSi) required?
Q: Is there an awareness of limitations of Subjective manual vs. Absolute automatic colour measurement?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, then an Automatic Instrument is required.
If you answered "no" to all of the above questions, then a Visual instrument is sufficient.
