Having Trouble Reading?

couples Are you over 40? If so, you may want to consider wearing multifocal contact lenses.

You're probably much more active than your parents were at your age. Biking, jogging, exercising and playing sports are just a few of the activities that today's 40-somethings routinely enjoy.Once we reach our mid-40s, presbyopia makes it difficult to focus on near objects. Presbyopia is a condition in which the lens of the eye loses its ability to focus making it difficult to see objects up close. The loss is gradual. Long before we become aware that seeing close up is more difficult, the lenses in our eyes have begun losing their ability to change shape to help focus light rays.

Until recently, reading glasses were the only option available for contact lens wearers who wanted to read a menu or do other everyday tasks that require good near vision.

At last, there's a lens that provides a smooth transition as your eyes move naturally from one focal distance to another - near, intermediate and far. AIR OPTIX® MULTIFOCAL contact lenses provide a smooth transition from seeing things close-up to far away. Suddenly small print is clear.

If you have presbyopia, you should talk to your eye care practitioner about AIR OPTIX® AQUA MULTIFOCAL contact lenses. See below for a valuable savings certificate on multifocal contact lenses.
August is Cataract Awareness Month

This month is Cataract Awareness month and we encourage everyone to be aware of the symptoms of cataracts, for the sake of their vision or for someone they know. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye and they tend to 'grow' gradually, so changes in vision may not be noticeable at first. Symptoms of cataracts may include:

- "Cloudy" vision
- Sensitivity to bright sunlight
- "Halos" appear around headlights at night
- Colors appear faded

One early symptom of a cataract is a blurring of the vision that makes everything appear as if you're looking through a foggy window or cloudy piece of glass
cataracts

Cataract surgery is the most common form of surgery in the United States, with more than 1.5 million procedures every year, but surgery is not the first option.

Some of the symptoms of cataracts can be managed in the early stages with sunglasses or eyeglasses with anti-reflective lenses. When the cataract begins to interfere with daily activities such as reading or driving, it's time to consider surgery.

As with any eye disease, early detection and treatment are the keys to successful management of cataracts. To find out if you or someone in your family has cataracts schedule an exam today.
