A Note From Jo:
October for me means Halloween, birthdays and anniversaries and not necessarily in that order.

I missed out on the whole trick or treat thing as a child. When I was growing up in England it really wasn't such a big deal. In my old neighborhood the scariest thing to happen at Halloween was being allowed to watch the Hammer House of Horror on TV (with the volume turned down). Well folks, I'm making up for it now!

My husband says I'm just a big kid, but show me the dress-up box and I'm amused for HOURS. Last year, I admit I did get just a teensy bit carried away with the whole Bride of Frankenstein thing...most of the kids that tricked and treated my way ran a mile when they saw me, one poor child even burst into tears!  (And yes, those yellow contact lenses were as uncomfortable as they looked).

Each Halloween at the Tea Room we always "dress up" and take part in Carefree's trick or treat.  This year's "Scarefree" is on Saturday, October 30th.  So bring the kids by in the late afternoon and stop in for candy.

As I said, it's also my wedding anniversary this month as well as my stepdaughter's, mother-in-law's and my brother's birthday.  Bob and I are heading of to Lost Wages, oops, I mean Las Vegas for a little celebration and some R&R...we even get to see Cher, now there's someone who doesn't need a costume for Halloween.

Watch out for the gremlins.

Cheerio for now,
Jo

PS Speaking of Halloween, our fall sale proved so popular we are extending it through to the end of October.  We have a wide selection of beautiful merchandise including some really 'gothic' Halloween décor and everything is 20% off until October 31st.

MISSING GRANDMA
CAUGHT CHEERLEADING!

 Grandma Rose Cowgirl
Grandma Rose has had many adventures since she wandered away from the English Rose Tea Room in Carefree, at the beginning of summer.  Since then, a well-known face has been seen on television during an interview with the Fox Sports Channel!

"Well Dears, I was craving a little more excitement and that space suit you saw me in last time was SO claustrophobic. So, what is a girl to do when she's in Texas?  Find out where the Cowboys are!  Alphonso, my dance partner you will recall, said the Cowboys here play football and don't wear spurs (hmm, not the kind of football I'm used to I have to say). He suggested with my newly acquired dancing skills I could show my support for the Cowboy team.

I may be a Granny but I can shake a mean pom-pom. So much singing, dancing and cheering. Grandpa George can keep his boring old cricket, this is the sport for me!  Oops, must dash here come the players. I still haven't figured out yet why they all wear motorcycle helmets, perhaps there's a bike race at half-time?"

I like the Irish...

"In Ireland, you go to someone's house, and she asks you if you want a cup of tea. You say no, thank you, you're really just fine. She asks if you're sure. You say of course you're sure, really, you don't need a thing. Except they pronounce it ting. You don't need a ting. Well, she says then, I was going to get myself some anyway, so it would be no trouble. Ah, you say, well, if you were going to get yourself some, I wouldn't mind a spot of tea, at that, so long as it's no trouble and I can give you a hand in the kitchen. Then you go through the whole thing all over again until you both end up in the kitchen drinking tea and chatting.

In America, someone asks you if you want a cup of tea, you say no, and then you don't get any darn tea.

I like the Irish way better."
