A Note From Jo:
Summer is a chance for all of us to unwind a little and take
time to smell the roses...so I decided to smell my favorite ones, the English
roses in my Mum's back garden.
Yep, I'm off to jolly old England and simply can't wait!
I will be spending the first week watching as much Shakespeare
and Andrew Lloyd Webber as I can cram into seven days, accompanied by my dear
American friend Diedre. She's
actually more of the theater buff, I'm coming along as the tour guide...so thrilled to have the chance
to show off some of my favorite places...which of course will have to include the
occasional British pub!
Hubby Bob arrives at the end of the week (he yawned so
loudly at the thought of so much 'drama' that he got a kitchen pass to come
later). Staying in London in
Canary Wharf before we head south to Hampshire for lots more pubs, tea rooms,
antiquing and catching up on family life....will send back notes from the small
island in next month's newsletter.
The Tea Room will still be open all summer, so please make a
point of visiting Carefree and keeping the girls company while I'm gone.
Cheerio for now and Mum if
you're reading this put the kettle on....TAXI!!!

IN TANGO TRYST

Since her disappearance from outside of the English Rose Tea Room in Carefree, Grandma Rose has had an adventurous few weeks. In the beginning, the Tea Room received many calls concerned about her welfare and the horrible prospect that she may have actually been stolen. It soon transpired however, that she had willingly wandered off in search of "cooler" past-times. Since being photographed on a Harley Davidson heading up Carefree Highway, to lounging with the pool boys at Caesar's Palace in Vegas, it would appear that there is no stopping this "gung ho" granny.
Grandma Rose's recent correspondence, from somewhere in Hollywood:
"Well Dears, life is never dull here in the fast lane. Since my little spa treatment at Caesar's Palace, I'm astonished at my own transformation! Who knew that beneath that dowdy dress of mine, lurked a girl in her twenties! Oh, and have I mentioned Alfonso, such a wonderful dance partner, he leaves me quite breathless at times. Tell Grandpa George he'd better dust off those dumb-bells in the garage and start taking that dog for a longer walk.
Dancing with the stars dears, have to fly. In haste, Grandma Rose xx
PS Just heard I finished in 2nd place!!

Lost and Found!
| Earl Grey has a new home | We see all sorts at the Tea Room. One never knows who will
walk through the door, like Earl Grey and Sweetie. Earl Grey (or so we named him) was a beautiful Russian Grey
cat that meowed constantly and loudly for about a week outside the tea
room. It didn't take long before we
all fell under his spell. Three bowls of roast chicken and a bowl of cream
later, he was soon a resident of the gift shop. We put posters around town and informed the local vets in
the area. After a routine health
check-up, we were able to find a
great new home for him where apparently he has settled in happily over the
last year. | |
Sweetie Bird
| Sweetie Bird sits on her nest at the Tea Room | Sweetie was another rescue
caught flapping around one of
the local stores on Easy Street. For a while we weren't sure whether
Sweetie was a boy or a girl, but
several months into her stay she produced five little blue eggs which
stopped the
speculation immediately! She is
still nesting as I write this, although of course with no 'boyfriend' to
speak
of, the eggs are now more of the hard-boiled variety. Pop in and say hi
to her if you happen to be in the store,
she really is a 'sweetie.'

Symbols and the Cycles in the Heavens Converge in your Teacup at the Tea Room
|
The symbols in the teacup and the cycles in the heavens are
combined with every reading by Janice Roper, resident tea-leaf reader at
the English Rose Tea Room. Taylor, a college student, is the tea drinker. Janice describes
the meaning of the symbols in Taylor's teacup: "You'll sense a shift in the dynamics
of daily life. Listen closely to that small inner voice gently guiding you
through the live, day-to-day transformation required to be the success you
dream of becoming. Yes, you will be living in and pursuing
your design career in England! The solar eclipse of July 11 occurs in
Cancer, the sign associated with issues of nuturing and
longing to belong, which translates to a deeper layer of emotional sensitivity and
security. So let go of the fear of the future and know your family and
friends will always be there for you! Embrace your beauty, your talent and go for it! Many
blessings are yet to come for you Taylor." To schedule your tea leaf reading please call the Tea Room gift shop at 480-488-1162. While reservations are recommended, walk-ins are welcome.
