A Note From Jo:
Well, it looks
as though we will soon be celebrating young Wills and Kate finally tying the
knot, and you can be sure there will much celebrating at the English Rose Tea
Room.
Last time I saw such a Royal
Wedding it was our lovely Princess Diana as she took that long walk down the
aisle to marry Charles. Hard to believe that was almost 30 years ago.
Memories abound of that
spectacular occasion and you can bet, the minute we know for sure the date of
the young lovers' nuptials we will be sending you details of a party like no
other. We have heard that an estimated three billion people will be likely to watch
the wedding of the century on television. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the Queen's 84th
birthday. We hope you saw the coverage we received on Fox10 TV. If you missed us, click here to see the news segment. Finally, a big thank you to Jon at The Real London Bus Company in Tempe for the double-decker bus, and to Michelle at Portobello Road Interiors in Scottsdale
for the loan of the palace guardsman.

Grandma Rose spotted on Carefree Highway
This picture was snapped by a tourist from Cleveland just yesterday. Please help us find Grandma Rose before it's too late!
|
Since her disappearance from the English Rose Tea Room in early June, there have been numerous sightings of Grandma Rose, the well-known figure
that can usually be found seated outside the Tea Room. She was reportedly spotted hitchhiking on Carefree Highway
on Sunday and one anonymous caller stated she was thought to be seen buying a
lottery ticket at the Circle K in Cave Creek. A letter was received several
days after Grandma was reported missing stating the following: Dear Tea Room,
I am sorry to be such a bother to you all but this heat is
becoming too much to bear. I have enjoyed sitting outside the Tea Room smiling
sweetly at potential customers, but I am not used to this searing heat.
I'm off in search of "cooler" past-times. Please remember to
feed the dog and tell Grandpa George to collect my pension money. Cheerio for
now dears.
Love, Grandma Rose

| A closely guarded secret! 6 Tips for Making Better Scones
I'm often asked for our scone recipe and I know there are
many of you just dying to get your hands on it. Well, although a closely guarded secret, here are a few tips
I can share with you about making scones: 1. Don't overwork the dough. Remember it's scones, not bread that
you are making. 2. Use Rumford Baking Powder (has no aluminum so you don't
get that nasty metallic taste). 3. Always form the dough to twice the height suggested in the
recipe. I recommend about 2" high. 4. When cutting out scones, flour the cookie cutter between
uses for a "stick-free" scone shape. 5. Make sure all ingredients are cold, especially the butter. 6. When scones are baked, have plenty of jam and cream on
hand! Do you have a tea time recipe you would like to share with
us? Please email us at carefreetea@aol.com. Those recipes that we love may be featured as a special menu item at the Tea Room!

| Kathy Miller of Badu in Carefree shows her cup for her tea leaf reading | Is romance in your future? The answer may be in your teacup!
Janice Roper, our resident tea leaf reader at the Tea Room is the author of Take Tea and See. She shared this recent tea leaf reading with us. "One
of my regular Carefree tea drinkers is a beautiful Virgo lady whose tea leaves
are very specific! It's time to travel. Romance is in her future. Her teacup suggests she will travel this summer to the Northwest, possibly to Portland
or Seattle and further north to Canada. Great fun to be with family too! She
has the ability to rise above immediate details and to expand beyond current
limitations. Like Dancing with the Stars!" Janice says the
last solar eclipse of 2010 suggests all of us have the ability to release the
past and bring our lives into alignment with an ideal. Remember laughter and faith
have an important role in health and healing. Each cup of tea represents a
soulful voyage into your future! To learn more about you, schedule your tea leaf reading with Janice Roper at the Tea Room. Please call the Tea Room gift shop at 480-488-1162.
