Many new clients want us to invest their assets without first learning and understanding the basics of how markets work. We resist that and much of what we do all along the way (including this forum) is aimed at enhancing understanding of the approach we follow vis-a-vis the traditional financial services firm. Ultimately, it comes down to this: active management might work but the odds of success are very low. Instead, we focus on a strategy that has a far higher success rate over time and from that a sense of comfort and confidence should emanate.
Reaching and maintaining financial independence assumes some level of confidence both about the strategies being pursued AND the future. Sure, we all have fears and concerns but this cannot erode the underlying level of confidence and faith in the future.
Discipline allows you to stay the course when many are reacting to short term market noise. We often find that clients have difficulty being objective about their own resources and this is where we come in to help render "dispassionate discipline". This article Discipline: Your Secret Weapon does an excellent job outlining how otherwise "well-informed" people often fall prey to the exit and re-entry finesse syndrome. Good behavior and a purposeful portfolio is the antidote.
Our mission is to provide something that is extremely rare- unbiased holistic financial advice. Our philosophy is grounded in science and proven in practice.. Don't keep us a secret.
