Are You Comfortable?

   

Wealth is about more than money. Rather, it is the ability to live in a manner that you desire, to have a sense of comfort. Of course, what comprises financial comfort varies largely from one person to the next. In general it is another way of expressing "enough". That is, where your lifestyle is a "good fit".

 

From our perspective as a fiduciary advisor, moving clients towards a zone of financial comfort sometimes requires a stretch (perhaps saving more, working longer) or restraint (spending less). So much of what client's react to in the media relate to how to accomplish goals (Roth IRA's, 529 plans, etc.) instead of what the actual goals are. Through our experience and expertise in hundreds of similar client interactions, we can help clients find this "financial comfort zone".

 

Helping clients determine what is enough is one of the major benefits of a long term advisory relationship. It has little to do with investment returns or tax rates but is instead anchored to optimism and expectations. In many ways, our work with clients revolves around helping them locate and then achieve comfort, a place of solace to their financial futures. It is about making smart financial decisions and avoiding the emotional roller coaster. So much of what comprises our complex financial lives is transactional and short term. No wonder that most new clients have scarcely given more than a passing thought to what it is they are seeking.
