In addition to our regular STAT newsletter we thought it might be instructive, from time to time, to highlight some of the issues we see with clients and our approach to forming solutions.

Problems & Solutions
Perhaps more so than at any time we have witnessed previously, one of the potentially damaging issues facing clients and prospective clients is inertia. With very few exceptions, most of the people we see need substantial and ongoing exposure to the financial markets to protect their family and lifestyle. Yet, many are sitting outside the markets earning little or nothing due to fear of regret.
Compounding this problem, many individuals are still using brokers instead of advisors despite the inherent conflicts and product driven approach that the big banks and big bull brokers provide. This is where inertia comes into play. Many investors know on many levels that they should make a change but simply haven't.
Many individuals coming here arrive with poorly diversified portfolios, high expense/tax inefficient investments, position size problems with individual stocks, and most of all no real direction. We can help provide a framework for focusing on their long term goals and render totally objective advice that
is based on their best interests alone.
Not everyone is well suited for our long term, evidence based approach to lifetime wealth planning but we always honor referrals by offering to sit down and review a prospective clients existing situation. We are happy to see individuals who simply need a "second opinion" on their existing financial structure and goals. If everything looks good we will tell them so and send them on their way. If not, we will outline how we might proceed assuming there is a good fit. Call or e-mail Katie Stokes (kstokes@jewilson.com) to set up an appointment .
