Greetings!
Many thanks to all who participated in the Winter Workshop in Eugene. We enjoyed Maren Schmidt's inspirational stories and reminders of the importance of observing and listening to support a child's development. We thank Far Horizons, Kerry Knust and her staff, for again hosting this workshop in their lovely school.
The survey results are in! We are analyzing and crafting a format for viewing. This survey will be offered again in the future, with improvements and refinements to the questions asked. Thank you for your participation.
Upcoming events:
Preschool Fairs - Hillsdale Library on February 4th and Bend on February 25
Workshop in Bend! Come to Bend for a weekend in March, and join Sue Pritzker - she will discuss the Parent/Teacher/Child Triangle and offer a workshop on Montessori leadership. Registration will open soon.
March 9th and 10th.
Save the date - April 21st will be our Spring Workshop at Providence Childcare Center. We are looking forward to bringing experts together to discuss the inclusion of children with special needs in our communities - covering how best to support varying needs and help families access support.
We hope your Open Houses were successful! I will continue to post events and Open House information on the Community Bulletin Board page of our website: http://oregonmontessori.com/news/community-bulletin-board/
Kim Greer and Harmony Montessori School offered a Montessori Elementary Fair on Saturday, January 21st. She organized representatives from East side Portland and Vancouver, WA, schools and welcomed parents to learn more about options at the Elementary level. Thank you, Kim for creating this event - we hope to support this event next year, as well.
Dr. Jenny LaBounty of Lewis and Clark College is getting the research underway. Participating schools have been contacted for family and teacher consent, and researchers will be visiting soon. Let me know if you would like to be involved and have not been included in these initial steps for verifying consent.
Contact us with your interests in volunteering or writing a Forza Vitale article for colleagues. We are staying abreast of legislative changes in Washington and Oregon, and need your support to communicate with one, strong voice.
With thanks and warmth,
