Welcome to New Schools
Good News!  New schools opened this fall.

OMA would like to welcome Chickadee Montessori School.  Chickadee is a home based program opened by Jude Foster.  Find out more about Chickadee here.

David Cannon has opened Montessori Children's House of Portland in the South Waterfront area.  In the John Ross Building, right on the streetcar line, David's new school is uber urban with gardens along the river and a park across the street.  Check it out at this website.

All of us at OMA want to wish Jude and David, along with their staff members and families, the best as they begin their first school year.

Pub Night: Friday, November 12

Join us for  Pub Night on Friday, November 12 from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm at East Burn Tavern at 18th and Burnside.

Pub Nights are an informal way to meet with fellow Montessorians to gather a bit of friendship and inspiration.

Everyone is responsible for their own food and beverages, but fun is shared by all.
We'll have a door prize drawing at 5:30 pm, so come throw your name into the hat!

We'll be meeting in the downstairs room.  Please ask the seating hostess for directions.

If you would like an e-mail reminder of this event the day before, sign up here.

Other Pub Nights are scheduled for the second Friday of the month throughout the year--except for December.

January 14
February 11
March 11
April 9
May 13

Mark your calendars and plan to join us.
School Membership Renewals Due
A big thank you to all of our members who have renewed for the 2010/2011 year.

If you haven't renewed yet, please put your renewal form and check in the mail today.

Download your school membership form here. A summary of OMA benefits is included with this form.

Remember, a new feature of school membership is that all staff members have individual memberships.  Please e-mail us your staff and board members names and e-mails and we will get their memberships started.

Including all staff members should enlarge our community network to over 500 Montessorians from our current 150.  Supporting our professional community is a powerful reason to be part of OMA.

Thank you for your continued support of OMA.

The Merry Kitchen Offers Children's Cooking Classes
The Merry Kitchen, a home based cooking school in NE Portland, would love to travel to your school to teach cooking classes.  Providence Montessori has included the Merry Kitchen in their after school enrichment programs since spring of 2008.  Classes generally are an hour in length.  Classes can be a one-time event, or offered as a series of classes.  Prices may vary.  Also, consider an in-home kids' cooking experience for a birthday party!

Julie Merry has a degree in Nutrition, Culinary Arts and became a Master Gardener in 2008.  Visit themerrykitchen.com to see the wide variety of classes offered year round.
