Op-Ed by Medical Professionals in Clarion Ledger Urges Schools to Adopt "Abstinence-plus" sex education that is evidence-based and medically accurate
The op-ed was written in response to an earlier story in the Clarion Ledger that described the content of abstinence-only sex education in Missisisppi schools. The abstinence-only curriculum (Choosing the Best) used by many schools was written by a politician from Georgia, not a team of medical professionals. The op-ed signed by 4 medical professionals (including Board Member Katie McClendon, PharmD) encourages schools to use sex education curricula that "are based on current public health knowledge and proven research, prevention, medical accuracy, and science."

Clarion Ledger Editorial: "Sex ed: well, ignorance isn't working"
The editorial states that the new law authorizing schools to teach "abstinence-plus" sex education is "an acknowledgement of a reality that should have been self-evident." The editorial also states: "unfortunately, sex education for students has become wrapped up in political debates, rather than being simply a practical solution to a common problem."

Buy Groceries at Kroger = Donate to the Women's Fund
It's true! It can be done and it's almost too easy. Here's how...
The Women's Fund will send you a Kroger gift card to which we will add $5. At your convenience you add any amount to the card by going to the Customer Service desk and either writing a check or charging it on your credit or debit card.
Then when you checkout you just use your gift card instead of another payment method. Your receipt will show you how much is left on your card.
Every time you put money on your card, the Women's Fund gets 5%!!!
How would you like to donate to the Women's Fund without subtracting from your checking account? Just let us know by email or phone (601-326-3001) and we'll send you a gift card.
