Harrison's Nan Drake Named to Top 50 Women in Business List 

Nan DrakeNan Drake, community relations director for Harrison Industries, has been named one of the Top 50 Women in Business in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties by the Pacific Coast Business Times. Whisenhunt Communications nominated her for the honor.

Drake is the voice of one of the largest family-owned trash-hauling companies in the United States. She also represents Gold Coast Recycling and Transfer Station and Agromin. Her tireless commitment to recycling has made Ventura County the most lauded and praised county in California.
 Gold Coast Recycling Retains Major Contract with Santa Barbara County

Gold Coast Recycling RFPGold Coast Recycling and Transfer Station retained the exclusive contract to process commingled recyclable materials from southern Santa Barbara County. Whisenhunt Communications prepared the response to Request for Proposal for Gold Coast.

When Gold Coast received its first contract with the County of Santa Barbara 11 years ago, it shared recyclables processing and selling services with Health Sanitation Services of Santa Maria and Del Norte Regional Recycling and Transfer Station in Oxnard. Since 2003, however, Gold Coast has secured the County's exclusive contract as a result of its efficiency in carrying out these services.
Community Memorial Hospital Wins Major Award 

cmh logoCommunity Memorial Hospital earned a first place award in the Small Hospital: Innovation and Creativity, Supply Chain Management category for the VHA. The VHA is a national organization helping to streamline and better hospital procedures for its member hospitals and healthcare facilities.

Whisenhunt Communications helped CMH's submission team prepare for the competition by gathering the required and extensive materials for VHA and helping to write and edit the application.

The issue, which is available online at www.vcoe.org, demonstrates how students across Ventura County from various high schools are finding their niche. They have studied in career programs, overcome hard times to graduate, and are planning to go to college, join the workforce or join the military. Mel Sheeler Chairs CMH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Golf Fundraiser 

Sheeler logoMel Sheeler, president of Sheeler Moving & Storage in Ventura, chairs the Community Memorial Health Foundation's annual NICU Golf Tournament, which will be played Friday, July 31 at Sterling Hills. Also on the committee is Stan Whisenhunt, a former chair. Proceeds of the tourney benefit CMH's NICU.
The Temecula Public Library Presented "Monuments to Lincoln" Live Performances on May 31 

Lincoln FlierMembers of the public enjoyed attending, "Monuments to Lincoln," a free presentation featuring dramatic speeches and live music, held at the Temecula Public Library on May 31.

The presentation was part of the Temecula Reads! Lincoln 2009-2010 citywide literary and cultural education program. Temecula Reads! Lincoln culminates December 31, 2009, with the opening of a special traveling exhibition at the Grace Mellman Library called, "Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America."
