Moving Through Late-Life Sadness and Loss: Baby Boomers and Beyond

Presented by Coastal Hospice & Palliative Care, MAC - The Area Agency on Aging and the 50+ Network for Creative Engagement

A free seminar will be held on Nov. 3 to help the public understand the issue of depression in our older population. Moving Through Late-Life Sadness and Loss, will feature nationally renowned speakers, Dr. Peter Rabins, author of The 36-Hour Day and Dr. Therese Rando, author of How To Go On Living When Someone You Love Dies. The speakers will discuss the growing issue of depression and loss in later life, including diagnosis and treatment options.

Upwards of 20 percent of our senior population will suffer from an episode of depression in their later years that is often triggered by the increased number of losses they are experiencing-such as the death of friends and loved ones, and the loss of their own health and independence. But depression in the elderly is treatable and cumulative loss is survivable.

This seminar will be held on Nov. 3 at MAC's Salisbury-Wicomico Senior Services Center (behind Holly Center on Snow Hill Road). Choose either the 9 am session or 1 pm session. (Each session will last about 2 hours.) Space is limited and reservations are required, so please call 410-677-1000 by October 28. Admission is free but donations will be gratefully accepted.
