Can it be that summer is right around the corner? It's amazing how much time whizzes by while everyone prepares for events, promotes their businesses, and takes the necessary steps to learn more and set themselves apart in the industry.
That seems to be a focus lately: How to set your company apart from all the others in order to get that business. Having a unique product or outstanding service are some ways but have you considered being a part of a prestigious association, such as ISES, as one?
Being an ISES member and using the logo in your business stationery and on your website is a welcome flag to potential clients. I have given and received business from fellow SFLC members but most importantly, I have booked business from members nation-wide.
Not all queries resulted in business, but I would never have thought when I first joined three years ago that I would receive calls from members in California who were looking for vendors in Florida and their first stop was our chapter website. They know that by starting with the local ISES chapter, they will find exactly what they need.
With that said, I'd like to welcome the newest ISES members (so far!) to our family and wish them much success. Our business opportunities grow with every new member, providing a win win situation for growth!

Networking Made Easy at the Membership Drive We had an amazing Membership Drive this past month. Not only were we enjoying great food and music, we were also in an amazing ambiance. Put this great package together and we have the perfect networking tool. When ISES creates the perfect ambiance, it allows our members to feel comfortable and, in turn, makes networking much easier. Many of us are great business leaders, however, it's tough to go out there and meet individuals we have never met before. Our membership drive turned out to be an amazing opportunity to interact with "old" and "new" friends. There is so much more heading your way in the upcoming year. I look forward to the wonderful opportunities ISES creates with its world of resources.
Serenity, Courage and Wisdom,
Dr. Aimee Zadak |

Lennox Foster, Sound Media
Tell us about your company/your role in the company Sound Media provides audio, lighting, and other production services for special events. Our specialty is audio, ranging from corporate presentations and weddings to award shows. Driven by customer's demand, our services have grown to include lighting, backline, DJ equipment, and projection. The company was founded in 1993 and incorporated in 1997. I function in the capacity of President and Audio System Engineer.
How long have you been in the industry? Sound Media has been a service provider for 13 years. I have 24 years of audio experience. My initial interest in designing and optimizing sound systems throughout college from 1987 - 1993 led to forming a corporation which initially provided sound systems for live bands and small functions.
What are your professional and personal goals? My goal is to network and establish working relationships with other vendors, event planners, caterers, and entertainers. I strive to understand different aspects of the special events industry to meet the needs of other industry professionals. I plan to utilize ISES educational classes to enhance my industry knowledge.
Why did you join ISES and what do you hope to get out of it in the coming months?
ISES provides an environment conducive to learning, sharing professional experiences, and developing great working relationship with industry professionals. The organization provides a great opportunity for me to grow professionally. In the coming months I will continue learning about the various services and products ISES members provides. Our clients have benefited by using ISES members for services recommended. I also strive to showcase the professional services Sound Media contributes to the ISES vendor portfolio. Sound Media services will add great value to the end client experience.

ISES Teamed Up With JM Lexus to Host This Year's Membership Drive
The ISES May Membership Drive was held in the unlikeliest of places-the JM Lexus New Car Dealership in Margate...but that is what the association is all about right? Bringing unique and creative locations and vendors together for a seamless special event!
Thanks to Sharnell Jackson, Lexus' Meetings & Special Events Planner, attendees were treated to a chic event that began with a networking hour in the new car showroom. Over the Top dressed hi top tables with beautiful turquoise embroidered linen. New member Chef of Distinction presented an array of hors d'oeuvres such as Lobster Salad on Watermelon with Aged Balsamic; Chicken Tsukune on Cinnamon skewers with Ginger sauce; and Truffle Oxtail Tartlets. They also mixed a fantastic Lexus-tini made with blood orange juice and vodka.
After cocktails, the group was escorted to another building where a quick trip in the elevator led them to the dealership's "conference room"--a blank canvas with close to 5,000 square of space to transform!
The long hallway leading to the entrance was decorated with brandedballoon clusters from Balloonatics/The Proper Image and a sleek black carpet runner from Elegant Parties. With the help of Sound Media; Room Service Rentals, an AFR Company; Over the Top, A&M Productions, Temporary Tropics, and Tropical Elegance, the room went from conference room to after glow in elegant hues of turquoise, black, and white. Existing projection screens displayed sponsor logos and slideshow of photos from previous ISES meetings. It was wonderful for members to reminisce about the fantastic meetings ISES has produced while promoting the association to those non-members in attendance. Both groups also got a refresher course in everything ISES thanks to a Jeopardy-inspired game sponsored by Party Nation.
L'Hermitage Catering sponsored the delicious fare, which included Mini Kobe Meatloaf; Tuscan White Bean and Fennel Pate Crisp; and Curry Chicken in Edible Spoons. Potions n Motions' made a blue ISES-tini to coordinate with the atmosphere: a perfect blend of Bacardi Razz, blue Curacao, and mango liqueur. For dessert, Ruth Spiegel of Cold Stone Creamery debuted Ice Cream Cupcakes and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory hand-dipped caramel apples that were a big hit! Café ala Carte was on hand to provide coffee concoctions that were a perfect complement to the cool ice cream treats.
The board would like to extend a special thanks to Tanya Posavatz, CSEP, Regional Vice President, ISES Southeast Region, for taking the trip down from Houston to visit our chapter and get to know its members.
