Vanessa Happy New Year to Happy Hannukah and Easter in the blink of an eye! We switched gears this month to host a casual Friends & Family meeing at Balloonatics, where guests brought their kids (or dogs) along to share in the fun!

Next month, we are heading to the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, which is a new member by the way! It is great to see everyone's excitement and energy about ISES. We hope to see everyone there!

In last month's newsletter, I asked members to share some highlights from their Super Bowl experience and here are some responses:

"Getting the truck stuck in the quick sand on the beach was an
unexpected highlight of my Super Bowl experience. Luckily, I wasn't the first (nor the last), and the venue had a tractor on standby to pull everyone out!"
 --Mark Grassini, Temporary Tropics

"We coordinated linen for multiple events with over 1,500 guests each for both the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, with many orders being confirmed within days of the big event!"
--Alan Eingold, Over the Top

"We needed water to fill the bases of 10-foot tall stands to hold up against the wind during an outdoor event for the Saints. Thank goodness there was a memorial erected outside the property that was filled with water. My other option was jumping into the bay!"
--Vanessa Goyanes

"We blew up 12,750 balloons, made 185 centerpieces, and spent over 200 hours onsite for five Super Bowl events!"
--Aimee Zadak, Balloonatics

Business Spring Cleaning

Spring is in the air and this is a wonderful time to get motivated for some business spring cleaning!  I'm sure if we stand back for a minute, we will find quite a few things that we can do away with in our office.
You can start with that file that you keep on moving to the back of the todo list.  If you haven't done it yet, get rid of it or delegate the action item to someone.
How about your blackberry or roladex (for those of us who still keep one), is it time to go through those and clean them out?  You may find someone in there that you should contact and do business with or you may find that you really don't need that contact any more.
You may even find that your vendor list is outdated and you need to attend and ISES networking meeting to meet the newest and greatest contacts.
The key to spring is to feel fresh and alive.  You'll feel better and your clients will love the new designs and ideas you'll be presenting.
Start that spring business cleaning today!

Serenity, Courage and Wisdom,
Dr. Aimee Zadak

Why did you join ISES and what do you hope to get out of it in the coming months?
I joined ISES to be able to meet like-minded people within the industry that share the same professional interests I do and for the educational opportunities ISES offers its members. In the months to come I hope to be able to visit venues in which I am not familiar with and learn from industry leaders who will educate and inspire me.

ISES Hosts First Friends & Family Event

While some members went off to Las Vegas for Event Solutions, those who stayed put gathered at the home of chapter president Aimee Zadak for a casual Friends & Family event. The ranch-style home was decked out with Western-themed dcor including tables with rustic lanterns and checkered linen and vignettes of hay bales, wagon wheels, and-what else?-balloon clusters of cowboy boots and cactus.

Downtown Events & Catering
put together a fun Tex-Mex buffet with make-your-own tacos and nachos plus other yummy treats. The DJ from A&M Productions spun a little country, a little disco, and lots of great tunes that everyone enjoyed. Another big hit was the complimentary horse rides provided by Aimee's horse Summer, which kept all the kids occupied for hours!
The laid back environment was a wonderful break from the traditional meeting that the chapter hopes to repeat in the years to come!
