"The Key to Giving is Receiving" |
|

Have you ever noticed when you open yourself up and truly receive from the universe, you miraculously have more energy to give? It is an amazing. There is a new spring in your step and you feel you can accomplish anything. But have you also noticed when you find yourself thinking you can do it all by taking care of everyone and everything, at the end of the day you feel exhausted? This is a sign it is time to back the truck up an practice receiving so we can have more energy to give. Here are a few things I practice in order to remain in balance with my desire to give and do what I love most; be in service to others.
- Rise before your world does or pull back in the evening and take a few moments of alone time to just be with you without a list of to do's running through your mind. Relax and enjoy the solitude.
- Give yourself permission to reward yourself. Life can become increasingly difficult if you don't find ways to pamper yourself with a little love. I remember when I was caring for my sweet brother Shane as he was dying. Several days a week I would swing by a tanning salon a friend of mine owned. My shins rarely tan nor did hers. We would grab a couple of chairs and sometimes a glass of wine and pull ourselves up to the tanning bed and just put the bottom half of our legs under the glass. We would giggle and she would allow me to download my feelings. What a gift she was. She gave of her time, I received and, voila, I had more energy to give to my brother.
- When help is offered, don't react and respond with a polite "No thank you" because you are not sure how you will organize the help into your life. Just say "Yes" and let go of the worry. Help brings energy and energy brings solutions.
