The Plant Fair signs are out around town -- 31 of them were 'planted' early on Sunday morning. Beyond the fun of seeing them accumulate along Bedford's roadsides, I found a treasure trove of lady slippers in the immediate vicinity of one sign!

The plants are getting ready to come to the Common.
We've got hearty locally-grown annuals, heritage perennials, shrubs and hanging planters.
And, because they were so popular last year, we've increased the size of our GROCERY GARDEN selection of veggie and tomato seedlings.
|
In addition to our intrepid volunteer plant experts there will be professionals to answer your questions and offer advice.
Marty and Jan Schafer of Joe Pye Weed's Garden have been part of the fair since forever it seems. They're responsible for many of the heritage perennials -- either because they've been donated this year, or are second and third generations of plants donated to prior fairs.
Bedford's own organic gardening guru Meighan Matthews of Growing4Good will be in the plant area to answer your vegetable patch questions.
And third-generation First Parish gardener Bee Kalloch of Busy Bee's Plant Service will offer suggestions to beautify your flower garden.
