The current Décor exhibit of the Metalworkers and Decorative Arts Guild in the Parsons Gallery through June 21 includes work by BCA member Greta Rothman. An artist exhibiting
her jewelry, Greta uses silver and mixed metals to design and construct

Looking
ahead a bit-BCA board member John Lobosco has mounted an exhibit of
works on paper at the Newton Public Library. Opening reception: Thursday, July 2, from 7 to 8:30 pm.

Community Connections: Liz Rodriguez writes, "I'm a part-time potter with a kiln, wheel, slab roller and extruder
currently collecting dust in my basement. I rent studio space in Lynn

Around Bedford - The Art of Community For Kids
Pan Mass Challenge Bedford Kids'
Ride
Saturday, June 13 from 9 am to 1pm
Join 400 kids from Bedford and surrounding towns for the 5th
annual Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) Kids Ride, a fundraiser for the Dana Farber
Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. For a video of last year's fun: http://vimeo.com/4645742
Routes are geared to riding skills: Wally's Way-an obstacle
course for tykes on trikes; Green Monster, a 3 mile ride for young adventurous
riders; Big Papi, a 6 mile ride for more experienced riders; Big Papi Slam, a 10
mile ride for those who want a real challenge; and Fenway, an off-road route
just for teens.
There will be a party after the ride with music,
refreshments and activities. All riders will automatically be entered into a
raffle with fantastic prizes. Kids are encouraged to collect donations for their ride by
asking friends and neighbors to support them. A suggested fundraising minimum
is $25 per rider, with a $10 registration fee per rider. Parents are welcome to

Rain Gardens & Stormwater Management

In our town's 6th
Annual Arbor Day Talk Fred Civian, MassDEP's Stormwater Coordinator, will share the most up-to-date views on rain gardens, grassed swales, and other techniques that allow
rainwater to percolate into the groundwater aquifer, resulting in a larger base
flow of the many small streams that water our trees and gardens.
This talk is
of special interest to those who want to learn about smart or green growth principles for
"Low Impact Development and Environmentally Sensitive Site Design" and will be useful for the average homeowner who would like to know
more about dealing with a wet area or preventing the development of such
areas.

Bedford Farmers' Market Opening Day Monday, June
15 from 2 until 6:30 pm
Fresh vegetables, yummy goodies, new vendors and old
favorites as well as entertainment, community connections and occasional
crafters will be featured again this summer at the Bedford Farmer's Market.
The market is located across at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and South Road, at the terminus of the Minuteman Bikeway and will be open each Monday afternoon from 2 until 6:30 through mid-October.

pastoral songs by Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Barber and Heggie. The concert

There are a lot of ways to get to museums without paying full admission:
The Institute for
Contemporary Art on Boston Harbor - a great treat in warm weather offers several options:
- Admission
is FREE to youths up to age 17 through the generosity of the State Street Foundation.
- Everyone
is invited to visit the ICA without charge between 5 and 9 pm every Thursday, courtesy
of the Target Corporation
- Families
(up to 2 adults accompanied by children 12 and under) get in without charge on
the last Saturday of each month with the exception of December.
Boston's Children's Museum on Fort Point Channel
offers $1 Friday Nights sponsored by Target Corporation
every Friday from 5 to 9 pm.
If you're a Bank of America cardholder, several museums are free to you
on the first weekend of each month: Lincoln's DeCordova

Free Art Camp at Lowell's Western Avenue Studios Applications due on June 15
Western Aveue Sudio's Art Camp is designed for children 10 to 13 years old who
have demonstrated that they love the visual arts and can commit themselves to
attending the 4 weeks - Monday-Friday, 9 am to noon, from July 6 through August
1. There
is no cost for this program and all materials
will be provided; however, parents are responsible for getting their children
to and from
Western Avenue Studios each day.
