PRINT TO YOUR HOME/OFFICE PRINTERS FROM ANY COMPUTER OR SMARTPHONE
|
Google recently launched the ability to print to your home or office printer from anywhere using Google Cloud Print.
Google says, The "goal is to build a printing experience that enables any app (web, desktop, or mobile) on any device to print to any printer anywhere in the world." Send e-mails and Google Docs to a Cloud Print-connected printer from your smartphone simply by opening a file in the mobile browser and choosing "Print" from the drop-down menu. You will need a host computer running the Google Chrome browser to set up your printer. Instructions on setting up your printer can be found here. More about Google Cloud Print...

| PRINT FROM AN IPAD
|
In November, 2010, Apple introduced iOS 4.2 which included AirPrint - the ability to print from your iPad or iPhone. Unfortuntely, Apple's AirPrint only works with a small number of brand new printers that use a new feature called ePrint. Not good. If you don't have a brand new printer with ePrint, there are several apps in Apple's App store that will allow you to print to any wireless printer. One such app is Print Central which works great but costs $9.99. If your are like me and like your apps for free, there is a method to print from an iPad to a printer connected to either a Windows or MAC computer. The only downside here is that the computer needs to be on. Not a big deal. I have been using this method and it works fabulously.
For Windows computers, follow the instructions here. For Mac computers, follow the instructions here.
