Power(sport) to the People

A look at 4800 N. Commerce Drive at Camp Creek Business Center.
Duke Realty's Corey Richardson can
get you a good deal on a motorcycle, jet ski or trailer through new tenant
National Powersport Auctions at Camp Creek Business Center.
According to our sources, National
Powersport leased 155,000 square feet at 4800 N. Commerce Drive, a
212,940-square-foot industrial property at Camp Creek. The deal also included
outdoor storage and parking for the tenant's auctions, which are booming these
days as financial institutions need to move repossessed recreational vehicles
and bikes. National Powersport is relocating from a Fulton Industrial-area
building to Duke's mixed-use development on Camp Creek Parkway near
Hartsfield-Jackson and I-285. NAI Brannen Goddard's Bob Burdell represented
National Powersport, while Richardson leads leasing efforts at Camp Creek.
Duke's been plenty busy in another
core market, too. Shorter University leased 21,895 square feet at 3805 Crestwood
Parkway, a 104,947-square-foot Northeast submarket office building that the
school plans to occupy this week. Chad Koenig and Jim Devaney of NAI Brannen
Goddard represented Shorter, while Duke VP Craig Flanagan represented ownership.
Duke also leased the entire 2450
Satellite Blvd. building to locally based gaming firm Cadillac Jack Inc. Rob
Coatsworth and Jeff Richardson of CTR Partners represented Cadillac Jack, while
Duke VP Brian Sutton represented ownership. The 102,862-square-foot deal
backfills the property within a few months of a previous tenant's lease
expiration, and brings Duke's Northeast leasing total to more than 800,000
square feet year-to-date.

Chairman
of the Board
John O'Neill of Cushman & Wakefield.
Don't
be concerned if you see John O'Neill wandering Chastain Park in the middle of
the day.
It's
part of the Cushman & Wakefield senior director's responsibilities as
chairman of the Chastain Park Conservancy's board, which hosts its annual
fundraiser, "On A Green Night," Oct. 7 at Chastain Park Amphitheater. Tickets
are $100 and can be purchased at www.chastainparkconservancy.org.
O'Neill's
served on the Conservancy board for three years and as chairman since January.
The Chastain Conservancy's mission involves restoring, enhancing and maintaining
the 268-acre park, and O'Neill gives past chairs and board members a lot of
credit for the heavy lifting involved in establishing this week's big event.
After completing a master plan in 2008, the Conservancy has completely upgraded
tennis facilities and has a PATH extension under construction. Within the next
two years, the Conservancy plans to launch a multi-phase capital campaign to
fund $40 million in additional improvements, O'Neill said.
O'Neill
has plenty to keep him busy at Cushman & Wakefield, too. He's on a team with
Travis Jackson, Christopher White, Allison Bittel and Addison Meriwether,
representing corporate heavy hitters such as Primerica, Fidelity Bank, Graphic
Packaging, Beazer Homes and Randstad in their search for headquarters' space.
O'Neill
is one of the most naturally funny and engaging people we've ever met, but he
takes career and civic duties seriously. In addition to his work with the
Chastain Conservancy, he's also on the board of the Atlanta Police Foundation.
"We
all have a personal responsibility to get involved in our community," O'Neill
said.

Credit Where Credit's Due
From left to right: Blondie, Gene Kansas of Gene Kansas Commercial Real Estate and Ariana Nicole of Gene Kansas Commercial Real Estate.
We've spent some quality time with Gene Kansas over the past
week, and, we must say, the man knows how to throw a party. Last Thursday's
event at Octane celebrated the launch of Gene's "Sidewalk Radio" show on 1690
AM. Sidewalk Radio airs Mondays at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and also is available
as a podcast. The first episode examines the history and redevelopment prospects
for the Clermont Hotel, so, naturally the broadcast and party wouldn't be
complete without Clermont icon Blondie. A special thanks to our new friends at
sorry,darlin (www.sorrydarlin.com) for sharing party
photos with us.

Life in the Fast Lane
Ed Cave at the Carolina Trophy.
With Jeannie Cave as navigator, Ed Cave didn't have to stop and ask for
directions as the husband and wife duo twisted and turned to a Carolina Trophy
victory last week. The seven-stage, vintage car road rally took the Caves
and their Porsche through scenic North Carolina mountains as they competed
against drivers in vintage Alfa Romeos, Jaguars, MGs, Audis, Maseratis and
Mercedes Benzs. The Caves finished second last year, but were not about to let
rain, fog and some highly technical rally racing -- not to mention other drivers
-- get in their way on the road to the 2010 title (and yes, Rooster friends, that really is Ed Cave circa 1973 in the groovy ad above).

Rain or Shine
From left to right: Scott Martin of Hines, Chris Ahrenkiel of Tishman Speyer, Hilary Van Winkle of Cousins Properties and Lane Koplon of Lane Koplon Company.
A little bit of rain couldn't keep the Young Council of REALTORS off the links last Thursday, especially since YCR's 21st annual golf tournament benefited a good cause, the Carter Martin Endowment Fund, which supports innovative cancer research and therapies. More than 130 golfers and participants braved the elements, including our rain-soaked friends competing in Cousins Properties' putting contest.
