Deal Doldrums? No Way!
 View from the top: Midtown's 1180 Peachtree.Commercial real estate's post school's-out/ICSC/Memorial
Day hangover may have put an ebb in the usual flow, but that doesn't
mean deals aren't getting done.
To wit, Owen, Gleaton, Egan, Jones
& Sweeney is moving down Peachtree St. from the Promenade II tower
to 1180 Peachtree St. where the law firm is taking a floor of King &
Spalding's sublease space. Hines' John Heagy handled the transaction,
with Dean McNaughton and Peter Glover of Cushman & Wakefield representing
the tenant.
On the industrial side, Panattoni Development
Co. renewed and expanded Velocity Express at 615 Stonehill in the Fulton
Industrial submarket. Velocity Express added 80,000 square feet for
a total of 185,000 square feet, and Trent Smith of Mohr Partners represented
the tenant. Scott Plomgren of McWhirter Realty Partners represented
Panattoni.
Atlanta's industrial market has a
number of big-ticket requirements roiling the waters, including Medline
Industries' search, "Project Gump," for an additional 450,000
square feet of industrial/distribution space, which involves UGL-Equis'
Rick Nash leading the charge. Though we hear that a number of projects
are stalled - perhaps Corporate America is on summer vacation? -
our sources tell us that Phillips-Van Heusen, "Project Fog," is
back on track with a search that's closing in on more than 900,000 square
feet in the Northeast submarket.

AGG's Skinner's
Viennese
Waltz
AGG's Phil Skinner leading the discussion of "Hot Topics in Cool Times: the U.S. Perspective".
We're not sure whether
or not Arnall Golden Gregory's Phil Skinner is
an expert ballroom dancer, but
we are positive he's recognized internationally as an authority on
commercial
real estate law. Skinner recently headlined the
International Bar Association's
Global Investments in Real Estate conference in Vienna, which drew
attorneys
from throughout Europe and North America but only one U.S.-based
speaker,
Skinner, who gave the American perspective on
U.S. markets and deal making.

Woman of the Year
Jae Robbins (left) and Leslie Wright (right) of Resource Real Estate Marketing.
Resource Real Estate Marketing's
Leslie Wright is quickly finding out the difference one person can make.
Over the course of this spring,
Wright's competed in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS)
Man & Woman of the Year campaign, contending with business people
across Atlanta to raise the most money for the charity. In support of
Wright, Resource is sponsoring her efforts and company President Jae
Robbins is her team captain. The campaign culminates in the Champions
of Hope Gala June 17 at the Loews Hotel in Midtown, which means you
still have time to donate: http://ga.mwoy.llsevent.org/lesliewright.
The LLS campaign has given
Wright a new appreciation for the commercial real estate industry's
generosity and also helped her better understand how many people, especially
children, are impacted by leukemia and lymphoma. The disease is fast-moving
and deadly, but medical research is quickly gaining on it, too, compounding
the importance of financial support to fight the illness.
"It's really a life changer
to participate in something like this," Wright said. "It gives you
massive perspective and brings a whole new purpose to life."

Cousins' Events and Promotions: Ole!
Andria Kriss (left) and Hilary Van Winkle (right) of Cousins.
Hilary Van Winkle was so excited on day three of her promotion to leasing representative for Cousins Properties that she threw a Mexican hat-dance party with co-worker Andria Kriss. Okay, so really she was greeting Cousins' guests at the broker event held at Piedmont Center North last Thursday evening, but she did throw on a sombrero to mark the occasion. Congrats on the move up, Hilary!
Left to right: Erin Smith of Partners Atlanta, Jeff Dils of Cousins, Chuck Francis of Cousins and Monica Davis of Partners Atlanta. With live music, south of the border food and frosty beverages, Cousins showcased office space in Piedmont Center North's Building 15. Dale Lewis of Carter won a foursome at East Lake Golf Club and Wes Vaughan of
Bryant Commercial Real Estate Partners won a $100 Visa gift card.

IIDA After Party: the Next Logical Step
Left to right: Alan Robbins of Knoll, Harris Hatcher of Harris Hatcher Photography and Les Roberts of ART-Tech Designs & Finishes.
We think everyone
kept their clothes on when the International Interior Design Association's
Georgia chapter got together last Thursday for its Un-Dressed After Party. The
After Party celebrated the success of the organization's Dressed Fashion Runway
Event in May, which involved Atlanta architecture and design pros creating wearable
fashions out of building materials and raised money for local charities.
