A Family Affair

It was practically a family affair at the American Cancer Society Center last Thursday as  more than 400 office professionals filled the building's spacious lobby to spend a little quality time with their Cousins. Cousins Properties partnered with the Rooster for a Downtown happy hour including plenty of frosty beverages, live music and schmoozing at ACS Center, which has the largest office floorplates in metro Atlanta to complement the beautiful marble in its lobby.

A silent auction was held for a golf foursome at East Lake Country Club and an overnight stay at Callaway GardensJeannette Meyers of VeenendaalCave went home the winner of four tickets to this Thursday's Braves' game, too.

Bring a deal to Cousins for the ACSC and you just might win an I-pad.  All deal makers currently have a chance to win, whether it's with a tenant signing the smallest suite of 2,000 square feet, or the top dog who takes down the full 170,000-square-foot availability.

Many thanks to Cousins for partnering with us on this tremendous effort!  Be sure to check out the photos from the event here.

A look into King Industrial's conference room last week might lead one to think the company has a snack addiction problem, but, actually, team King was preparing for its monthly shipment of care packages for members of the U.S. Army's 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Division, the Polar Bears stationed in the Iraq desert.

Boxes of candy, gum, chips, dry soup, beef jerky, wet wipes and hand sanitizer, as well as cards, baseballs, Frisbees, paper-back books and magazines were distributed among the packages, as were homemade brownies and Rice Krispie treats, wrapped in white bread so the prized goodies retain moisture.

The project began in December when King Industrial's Melinda Wicker contacted Polar Bear battalion commander Lt. Col. Rich Greene through Wicker's brother, General John W. Miller. Each month, King sends the packages to Greene, who distributes the goods among the 700 troops in his command. Of course, Wicker says the effort welcomes anyone who wants to participate, whether helping fund the care packages and postage or supplying items for the packages.

Speaking of King Industrial ... King's Wilson Covington and Randall Bryan represented Cobalt Industrial REIT in leasing 29,948 square feet of office/warehouse space at 750 Great Southwest Parkway to Grady Health System. David Ellis and Bryant Cornett of Ackerman & Co. represented Grady in the transaction. The 15-year deal accounts for a major swath of the 38,620-square-foot building in the Fulton Industrial submarket.
