The Inside Scoop on the People & Places that Shape Atlanta Real Estate

NAIOP Million Dollar Club:

Port Leads Top Office Producers

Chris Port as MDC Top Office Producer
Chris Port, Senior Vice President of CB Richard Ellis, at his office on Tuesday afternoon.

As an NFL offensive lineman, Chris Port's job was to protect the quarterback through all kinds of adverse situations, good training for the trials of navigating Atlanta's office market through the past 18 months and protecting clients' best interests. In 2009, Port, Senior Vice President at CB Richard Ellis, led the pack as the NAIOP Million Dollar Club's Top Producer for Atlanta office properties.

"Last year was exciting, chasing deals and following up on the many rumors surrounding tenants in the market," Port said. "It was also extremely challenging to get deals closed while looking out for our clients' investments in a tough market. The key to our success was going back to the basics by focusing on our presentation to prospective tenants and being extremely responsive to the tenant and brokerage community.

"A lot of great relationships were formed in the past 18 months, and we hope it will pay dividends in the future for our clients and tenant customers," Port concluded.

Rounding out NAIOP's Top Five are: Brian Hogg of Portman Management Co.; Jeff Keppen of CB Richard Ellis, last year's No. 5 producer; Michael Wells of Highwoods Properties; and Tom Miller of Grubb & Ellis, last year's No. 1.

Sutton Repeats as Top Producer

Brian Sutton

Brian Sutton, Vice President of Duke Realty, at the NAIOP awards ceremony this morning.

Duke Vice President Brian Sutton makes it look easy, racking up consecutive NAIOP Million Dollar Club Top Industrial Producer awards. Believe us, it's not as easy as he makes it look.

"Well, it took a lot of hard work and strong tenant and broker relations," said Sutton, a 10-year member of NAIOP's Million Dollar Club. "It also helps to work for a financially stable firm like Duke that raised $1.6 billion in 2009."

Rounding out this year's Top Five are: Carr Carothers, Majestic Realty Co.; Brian Cardoza, ProLogis; Tom Crowe, Hodges Management and Leasing Co.; and Leslie Fink, First Industrial Realty Trust.

Connie Engel, a partner at Childress Klein Properties, personifies excellence personally and professionally in a manner that few could match and none could surpass.

"Connie's values in the areas of faith, family and citizenship make us proud to have her out there representing CKP," said John Decker, a fellow partner at Childress Klein. "Additionally, Connie easily executes more leasing transactions than anyone in our company, and her years of experience in this area make her our most artful negotiator of landlord/tenant relationships.
